It was TDE who did the futile chase on the stage Wellens won before. At least they've started early enough to give themselves a chance this time. Simon has been 5th and 6th fastest on the two comparable finishes to this one. Of course Roglic has been 1st and 1st with daylight 2nd on both occasions

Total Direct has to hope that Astana or Bora start to chase again. I don't see a reason why Astana should not try to bring them back now. It is a much better situation then before.

I don't understand Astana and Bora here. They did the chasing before, then disappeared. Now that TDE has brought the gap to a bridgeble one, they don't contribute. Boh...

It's strange that no other team will help Direct Energie - The stage is there for the taking.

in Bora's case, it depends who they were chasing for. Ackermann now is dropped already, and Großschartner said that he always struggles a bit the day after a time trial. But yeah, no excuse for Astana
