Every update at the mo is basically.

Big group has attacked.

Big group has been caught.

:tearsofjoy:

---

  1. Guillaume Martin (Cofidis), 3 pts
  2. Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal), 2 pts
  3. Thymen Arensman (Sunweb), 1 pt

Arensman is having an amazingly active race lol

PCS has posted this image of the current situation in the final climb.
Looks good for attacking without being seen while your opponents fight their rain jacket and follow a moto with the fog lights on.

A nature break on top of all that would seal the deal.

Really thought Bagioli would have got in the break today. He's been losing a fair bit of time but on a few stages particularly towards the start was with the leaders going uphill. Thought he was losing time for a stage breakaway win

To me it looks like this break will simply just win this stage and nothing will happen behind?

Barring some rain jacket disaster, no one is dropping Roglic and Jumbo on the two remaining categorised climbs. Not sure any team bar Jumbo (who likely wont) or Movistar (and they've Rojas up front) is strong enough to drill it for the stage win either.

bora closing the gap, grosschartner wants this stage!, this could be a gc fight!!
they are working for Ackermann, based on what Großschartner said before the start. With the headwind, they seem to believe a sprint is possible.

Final ~100k now are basically the same as when van Genechten won in a sprint a couple of years back

that seems crazy, so many climbing kms this stage, even if they manage to keep it together till the last climb a couple of riders could just take off on the last climb and they could never catch them again ...

he beat valverde then if my memory serves me well. I dont think Ackermann can beat any good puncheurs on this stage.

Ya, you'd need multiple teams really to want to work for it unless Jumbo or Movistar decide to put their strength into it. Bora will just tire themselves out like Astana and Direct Energie did to themselves yesterday

yeah, Luis Leon Sanchez was caught with 300m to go or so, some guys crashed, and then van Genechten beat Valverde in an uphill sprint. The finish is not exactly the same this time though, although fairly similar

on the longer climbs, Ackermann looked pretty strong so far. On the Farrapona stage he was the last guy up there with Großschartner, as far as I can remember. Maybe there is a chance, although it'll be tough to keep things together of course

Eurosport very late with the coverage today, and not like there's even any other live sport on.

Spending the time working now instead of being able to watch cycling, pah.

Yeah, but pretty much all IAMs started riding better when they got the news that the team was closing
