Just imagine if Movistar was leading Team GC and MAL's tantrum made them lose it. He would be banished from Spain.

Though someone posted he got out of the car and was riding again……
Especially after making JJ ride his heart out.Imagine if Valverde had been there he'd probably personally have slapped MAL to his senses. Abandoning a top 10 position? Absolute sacrilege.
That would have been hilarious and deserving, then get to the hotel and find out his room reservation was cancelled.Ya, to me theres only two outcomes that should have happened. Either he went into the team car or he went back on the bike at which point hes surely with Erviti in the grupetto, so Movistar should know where he is.
As hilarious as it would be, I can't imagine they left him on the side of the road with him out and told him to walk.
Bernal had already announced he was spent. Pretty much riding to try to set Yates up for a stage win today.
Either way its a fail for Ineos to have two riders so close to third place with one stage to go. Ineos did no work in the break and Yates should have been able to put 30 seconds into Haig after watching Haig go out the back after every acceleration from about 5 kms out. Some bizarre tactics on this stage and Lopez should have been locked on Haig's back wheel from the start.Bernal was struggling to hold the wheels on the first attacks. I would consider it a sacrifice had he followed the attacks then set the pace for his teammate but he couldn’t do that today. That doesn’t take anything away from him it’s just that he wasn’t going to go anywhere on GC anyway today.
Am I the only one who momentarily forgot that carrera is a false cognate, and read "decidió abandonar la carrera" as "decided to jack in his career"?

Give me riders like Superman any day over these robots we watch day in day out. This sports needs characters.

Jokes aside, I hope we're about to learn what has actually happened to Lopez in the past hour and a half or so. The more time passes, the more likely it becomes that it's something serious.
He was done. He was shaving trouble following the initial attacks. He wasn’t going to move up.He didn't do too badly in the end, though? I don't know, like I said I didn't watch it, but from the way the German commentators told the situation for those who didn't see it and from what I read here, it sounds like he could have held on to the front group, not attack anymore, but keep his place... and that he stayed behind for tactical reasons.

Despite my last comment, I hope he is ok and that we don't have to worry for his well being.
This is beyond pathetic, one of the most unprofessional atittudes that I remember in cycling's history.
