Taaramae being the only one outside of the big 4 to hold on in the TDF 2012, with that form he should kill this but alas

Looks like DQS are serious with Bagioli?
(Or Vansevenant as well?...)

Surprised they let the gap to quite some good riders get so big.

Commentators said something might be wrong with Landa?

I couldnt see Bagioli win today. Hope nothing is wrong with Landa though, that'd be a disaster.

At this stage, unless the peloton drill it hard, I think the teams are just interested in keeping it close enough that the break don't become an actual GC problem longer term. At 5-6 minutes by the finish, they'd be out of red by 9 at the latest.

I really think Amezqueta has quite a good shot to take the stage. He has made big steps this year, lots of very solid results. Dombro & Kenny are probably better climbers on paper, but not sure about their shape.

Voigt just said Calmejane and Soto are most dangerous, though, even for GC :D

With Bagioli I didn't mean for today, more a good placing in the general classification, since they are riding close to the front as a team.

Ah, that makes more sense. I'd be thinking more Vansevenant though. Bagioli doesn't strike me as someone who can hang even in the top 10 on Covadonga and Gamoniteiru.

At least the gap should now be big enough for TV pictures to capture the conclusion to both the stage race and the GC race.

Speaking about the GC action, tough to imagine a better ascent than this to start off sorting out and testing the field.
Being this early in the final GT of the season has its downsides as well, but anyone thinking about the overall should hail the opportunity.
Better sooner to be aware of the task than later.

That gap has dropped hugely very quickly. Wonder is just GPS being crap cos the peloton don't look like they're smashing it.

I can see why Bike Exchange is having a poor year - had to put Nieve in the break after he finished 4th in the same climb at Burgos.

I suppose they were really much faster because they are trying to get into the mountain in best position and the whole peloton is working, not just two Jumbo guys.
The break might already try to save something here and there, going for the stage win alone instead of time gain.
