I dont know much about cycling but i guess it is normal that Landa isn't properly fit and the Vuelta came too soon for him?

???
Can we just enjoy the great racing
Hey, I am entitled to my fricking opinion. And I hope they are not just chasing the podium only because it looked like they are. They are the only ones with the strength and the numbers so if they are trying to win the Vuelta Roglic is their enemy as well.

Having said that I also hate the way teams like Ineos ride as well. They are happy to carry Roglic up the mountains. Maybe there are other things that can be done IMHO. I hope this changes in the coming two weeks.

I actually hope Meintjes and Aru can hang on for that places close to the top 10. It may not be a great success in absolute terms but I somehow have the feeling that it would mean quite a lot to them.

When Landa comes around (Padun is just saving himself at this point, I tell myself), Bahrain will brutalise this peloton. Mäder did very well today, only Poels are too old to fly.

Let's hope there's more in the script than 10 days.

Congrats to Caruso.

Grenadiers just can't get themselves together.
Brailsford's issues and Portal's departure are visible on the road.
It's like watching three or four riders riding for different teams..........very odd.

I dont think we are watching the same race.

Its always the same with you: all of the teams tactics suck, Movistar is riding against each other, they are carrying Roglic to the finishline etc etc etc.

Again - what race are you actually watching?

All in all a pretty nice day of racing (even if the buildup was a bit slow) with first GC rider attacks happening at probably over 10k to go

At this point, Mas may (under the right circumstances) be just a bit stronger than Roglic on long climbs. Does that advantage become greater in week 3, or does a full ride in the TDF become a factor for Mas?

I think Mas is very strong. The strongest in the team. I have a question for You? Do you think Movistar will ride for the win or for podium 2, 3?

After today they will probably need to sacrifice Lopez if they want the win.

I think the only criticism of Movistar with merit today is that they didn't take over after Ineos to reel in Caruso. The duo of Mas and López seem to work well together.

Forum before today: Mas wheel sucker who never attacks.

Forum after today: why did Mas attack and drop everyone but Roglic?
Actually Mas has been riding stronger and stronger since the last week of the Tour. But I really hope he fights for the win, otherwise it will be another 2 boring weeks TBH.

Finally a great stage at this Vuelta! Congrats to Caruso on his top-notch performance in difficult conditions on this tough stage. He was by far the strongest from the breakaway and gradually increased his lead throught the stage (which was crucial given how GC contenders accelerated at the end easily catching the breakaway remnants).

Ineos were setting hard tempo on Venta Luisa and kept the breakaway within 2 minutes but suddenly stopped their work allowing Caruso to increase his lead. Why? Maybe Bernal said he wasn't feeling well. JV took over and the tempo dropped substantially. As I expected, the first steep part of Velefique brought fireworks: attacks (mostly by Yates, also Carapaz, afterwards by Mas). Roglic stayed back during first acceleration by Yates&Lopez but easily bridged the gap soon afterwards. At one point Roglic was alone against two Movistar and two Ineos guys but had no problem with that - legs are the decider. The crucial attack was performed by Mas and only Primoz was able to follow. They built a healthy 40 s lead over other contenders (Yates, Lopez, Haig) and a minute over ailing Bernal. Strong performance by Enric and also good ride by Primoz who put a lot of time into other GC contenders. ATM it seems Roglic&Mas are clearly favourites for top places but there's a lot of time until next mountain stages so riders form can still change.

Of course they will ride for the win, Mas might very well be the strongest on a climb like Gamoneteiru and/or Covadonga and Lopez is the absolute best rider in the peloton to have that role he has as the 2nd guy who'll just attack and dont give a ***. He has really embraced that role, while Mas will sit back and strike when its most opportune
