Stop trolling please!! I’m still eager for Sierra Nevada! Don’t want to see the last stages with Evenepoel 5 minutes ahead of the 2nd! I want him

The outcome more or less as I expected. Super strong Remco and the rest. Primoz solid but way slower than the Belgian. Time gaps were surprisingly small in the first part of the TT, even Mas was very close (tail wind?) but they grew considerably in the last part to what I expected before the TT.

It's down to Remco's level in the 2nd half of the race. If his level drops or he has a bad day then maybe Primoz can still make it, otherwise he's too far ahead of the rest.

Officially on Evenepoel haters side atm. He is ruin all the fun!! Soon we all be cheering for top3, top5 and top10!! What’s the point? There’s still 11 stages for Christ sake!! Bring that Sierra Nevada stage tomorrow please !!

1. u just need two great riders in any GT to make it thrilling.
2. when u try to artificially keep lesser riders in the running you get the nightmare of this year's giro
3. the history of GT racing is largely that of dominant riders and rides. if you do not enjoy extraordinary rides and exploits by the best rider in the race or of that era, then this is likely not the sport for you.

I think he will follow wheels. If he attacks it will be as late as possible to avoid a counter or anything else. Heck i think he would love to let break ride away for the win because that means no boni seconds for roglic for example. So he doesn't need to do anything but follow. (letting breaks go, they were doing that already and in hindsight it costs him >16 potential seconds over roglic up until now.)

Everything will now be focussed on Sierra Nevada, save energy and see what happens.

Wouldn't be surpised if some people get a little slack to gain some seconds back a long as it forces others to ride. especially those placed 5th and further.

To me energy conservation would be of primary importance at this point. He should be following wheels until maybe the last climbs on stages 18 and 20, just to make sure he's holding back enough to finish strongly. If he sees an obvious chance to grab a stage, or wants to go for it on 20, great. Let people 7 mins down get in breaks and let other teams defend their podium spots. Be ruthless about saving energy for everyone on the team.

And buy Cavagna a beer. Hell of an effort today.

Well, in truth, I was being facetious. He only needs to maintain his advantage, although if he is able to just take over from the team's work on the last climb and set a tempo the others can't resist he shall increase his advantage. Certainly, however, the team plan will just be to control and not let anyone dangerous get ahead. So in this sense he'll ease off on the throttle and play the monitoring game. On the other hand, I believe he would like to win a mountain top stage. Thus if he sees the others struggling at the critical moment he'll likely step on the gas, for that is what champions do.

I think Remco will see how he feels. He is obviously on a different level to anyone else. Today wasn't a great surprise but his strength in the mountains before today is.. He could weaken in the 3rd week but he could also continue to eek out his lead further. The 2nd week is not super steep climbs that should suit him. Time to start betting on the final winning margin.

I fail to see how the Giro was any less fun than this Vuelta so far? In the Giro we were kept guessing until stage 20. This Vuelta is effectively over and we are only stage 10. Landa is universally accepted as one of the best climbers in the sport and Carapaz was the 2021 TdF podium finisher so you should not downgrade Hindley. Who are these lesser riders?

Well "Stage 20 ITT Vingegaard" would have beaten Van Aert in top shape had Vingo not sat up to gift WvA the win. Plus generally the TdF is higher level than the Vuelta (or Giro). Like I mentioned no way is Roglic at his best here - just better than the rest.
