Mas wheelsucking aside, Ben O‘Connor must have set some kind of record for sitting on the wheel of other GC riders for an entire 22 km climb while never helping them.

He is....3X in this Spanish GT. He'll happily take that 15 seconds when he wasn't feeling great and eat your candy. Folks were writing him off a week ago so, I think he knows what he can do.Roglic wheelsucking his way up the climb just to attack in the final 2k and taking 15s.
Awww, give the big boy some candy. What a champ.
it’s all the same type of rider tho. Rodriguez, Tao, Sivakov and now Arensman. They could literally go 6-9 in any GC and no one would be surprised.
At least it ensures no return to the Ineos train as they are nowhere near having the rider to launch at the end.
Impressive prediction to conclude that a rider who is 5th on GC after 2 weeks at 21 is unlikely to amount to something more than 6th in the future.
Movistar's passivity was far worse, at least in retrospect.I'm not gonna lie AG2R closing that gap was disgusting.
Arensman is a good time trialer and a decent climber actually. A diesel which is why he's favored for the Giro d'Italia which it's multiple mountain stages. Especially in the Dolomites. Despite being a good tt'er he's not shy of attacking to create and take opportunities.it’s all the same type of rider tho. Rodriguez, Tao, Sivakov and now Arensman. Evenepoel indeed won the pulling contest. Congratulations.Roglic wheelsucking his way up the climb just to attack in the final 2k and taking 15s.

To stay as high as he can in GC to collect some UCI points.Movistar's passivity was far worse, at least in retrospect.
And what is the role of Valverde here?
Did he? Arensman pulled the whole day. When Craddock went, when Vine went, when Soler went. It was his gc, his stage win. Had to take a whole lotta responsibilities there in the group.Evenepoel indeed won the pulling contest. Congratulations.
Why not join a break then?To stay as high as he can in GC to collect some UCI points.
Not really what I said.
cheers.
Half the stuff this poster says is very contradictory or stupid, I usually don’t pay too much attention to him.' top ten (but no podium) candidates'
'They could literally go 6-9 in any GC and no one would be surprised '
'nowhere near having the rider to launch at the end '
I think my post is a pretty fair interpretation of what you wrote.

This part of your half?Half the stuff all posters say is very contradictory or stupid, I usually don’t pay too much attention to them
This part of your half?
YepVine was extremely active in the beginning of the stage.
Well, obviously. Since he chose to attack. For 2-3km, and then he sucked wheel for 15k.I wish Roglic had attacked earlier, certainly. But Roglic did set the pace for several kms on the lower slopes.
What a sissy he was. Macho men pull!Well, obviously. Since he chose to attack. For 2-3km, and then he sucked wheel for 15k.
He gets candy, too.Evenepoel indeed won the pulling contest. Congratulations.
Arensmans strengths are his TT, which sadly we didn't get to see this Vuelta because of the overheating, and his recovery in the 3rd week. He has a big weakness in the 1st week and explosive finishes though, so that's something Ineos needs to work on.To be fair, Arensman and Rodriguez are very young. If they can grow a bit on what they currently can do.. I think they will be able to contend for a GT. (after today, i think Arensman might have a good shot because his climbing was fantastic. Seems to have great recovery)
Summarized a better version of Kruijswijk, hopefully with a higher ceiling?Arensmans strengths are his TT, which sadly we didn't get to see this Vuelta because of the overheating, and his recovery in the 3rd week. He said himself he gets better when others get tired, and the longer the climb the better. It's therefore no surprise that on a climb like this he rides the final 7km as fast as Mas, and faster than the whole Evenepoel/Roglic group (talking purely about the last 7/8km when he attacked, not before obviously)
whut? If Arensman would not have been pulled back in that earlier break we'd seen him in 2 mountain breaks despite already being placed around the top 10. Hardly Zubeldia worthy.LOL. You got that right, the fight for the top 10 has been brutal!!!!
Aresman, Meintjes, O'connor, Uran, Hindley, Polanc, Kelderman.
It doesn't get more Ninja than these riders. Zubeldia would be proud of this race.
Exactly what I was thinking yes. Kruijswijk took a bit longer to break through as well. But this could also be simply an era thing with everyone breaking through at 20-22 now.Summarized a better version of Kruijswijk, hopefully with a higher ceiling?
