I thought Remco went pretty deep following mas. Hope he does not regret this.

I also thought the two of them were going to let gesink win…

Nice stage. Chapeau to UAE for making the race interesting.
Sad for Rodriguez but that's cycling.
Remco has the best recuperation of the GC riders. I think his weakness on Saturday will be his team, but if Mas doesn't have it he doesn't have to worry about anything.

Not a tough enough stage to break either Remco or Mas, but it was a great stage all around. Surprising that they could take any time on the others, but Mas and Remco rode all out.

If either of them were there alone with Gesink they might have. But in this situation? No way in hell that was gonna happen.
Sadly.

I think Evenpoel will just follow Mas from here, kind of how he did today, regardless of QS strength

but had it been harder the entire day would have been waiting for it. Steep finishes often make for very boring stages unlike how this turned out.

Couldn't agree more. This was great fun to watch. More like a classics race than a traditional mountain stage, which are usually much duller. Really good placement by the organisers I think. It's not their fault that so many contenders have dropped out, and Evenepoel is too strong for those who remain.

I mean it's obvious that Mas was the focus today and when Hindley, Arensman and so on attacked, Evenepoel did not care much

True, but he didn't just follow he attacked twice as well, that was my only point.

I think Mas did a good job today, he attacked multiple times on a climb that didn't suit him.

With the exception of Alberto (beloved on this forum including by me), it's always been that way for Spanish riders since the 1985 Vuelta.
not true

valverde
purito
indurain
landa
bilbao
zubeldia

and several others have been liked a lot

mas gets flak (the most from spaniards btw) because he has an unlikable personality and rides conservatively to put it mildly
