BTW, now I want a GC rider to win the stage.

My heart might have broken a little bit when Pinot got caught - and dropped - but I guess he just didn't have it today, considering Reichenbach, who I pressume would have been working for him, is still in/near the front.

Taking a look at the composition of the break and GC group, it becomes clear just how many bad descenders are at this race. A younger Nibali would have had a field day, but no more.

Movistar gave up, want the stage with Valverde now.
Congrats Remco.
Mas clearly didn't have the legs to drop Evenepoel. Movistar had one weekend to turn things around, didn't fully commit (would still have been a tall order though) and since then Evenepoel has gone back to being undroppable.

clearer and clearer that tough second week days for remco were 100% caused by his crash.

Back then the first thing on their mind was securing that top 3 for UCI points. Movistars future is more important than Mas getting that GT win. Understandable. Last week simply wasn't hard enough (pretty boring) and yes Evenepoel is also just better than Mas.

Incredibly boring last week, as expected. Roglic crash didn't help obviously.
Stage 17 and 18 were pretty good. Today has been a damp squib. Don't think this final week has been much worse (if at all) than what came before it, which is of course a damning indictment of this Vuelta.
