It's going to be 30C over the weekend according to the weather report so it's going to be tough. Shame the stages are so crazy short.

How often have we seen a succesful attempt to beat the sprinter trains on the final kilometers this year (like Ekimov and Skibby back in the days)? I miss that scenario a lot. So rare in modern cycling.

This late out? It has been a while that I can remember in a big race. I can remember Cancellara doing it in the TDF, but there are probably more recent examples.

I think all three of the big teams are getting these intermediate sprints wrong.
Soudal are putting in too much effort.
Jumbo are putting in too much effort.
UAE could have Molano join in to get in the way of Soudal and Jumbo at zero expense to their GC ambitions, but aren't.

I don't think it's wrong to go for them when it's 6-4-2 at all

That was an unreasonable amount of effort for an intermediate sprint on the part of multiple teams.
Yeah, I wondered what EF was doing hammering away next to Alpecin, but on the other hand it’s not like that have to save energy for (other than their climber whose name I’ve temporarily forgotten).

Very clever from Roglic, and a fail by SQS

All of this sprinting for bonus seconds (Remco, Vingegaard, Roglic) could quickly become irrelevant after Friday's stage, but for now, Remco opened the challenge and JV happily returned the favour.
fail by Pedersen...

I find it weird because that means JV and SQS are assuming Evenepoel/Roglic are equals in the mountains and finish together. Which could be the case, but that will be quite boring, knowing Evenepoel will just diesel his way up.

No. It's about not having to attack, thus making it easier to do so.
