Thanks!
How many minutes would Remco need to get in the break tomorrow to force Jumbo to start chasing?
Yeah, thanks for the work - I did all the Vuelta stages here a few years ago and one thing I learned was the profiles often have not a lot of relation with reality. As for mountain classifications, that has absolutely nothing to do with how hard the climbs are. It's all about where they are on the parcours and other mysterious deliberations. Thanks again @Devil's Elbow for making these threads! Awesome work.
Sometimes the DSes are so monumentally stupid and do the bidding for the strongest team for no apparent reason letting the strongest team preserve strength and be strong that it just makes me think there's some ulterior reason.Well, the guys at the Tour of Britain finally worked out not to work with Jumbo, so maybe after UAE's "cunning plan" (as Baldrick would say) yesterday then maybe the peloton at the Vuelta have come to the same conclusion?
This comment will be best thing about this stage.Give 100 monkeys a plate of spaghetti and a topographical map of Navarra and they'd come up with something better than this.
He probably forces the move. He is a dangerous 'free electron' now in particular for the strategies of GC teams. UAE better uses his energy to break something in the armor of JV to make this Vuelta a bit interesting.I suspect they'll start chasing him from now on. Others as well. He had his 'redemption' breakaway win. They're not going to give him any more gifts.
I'd be very surprised if the GC teams let Evenepoel go up the road now, unchecked. If he does, he needs to force the move himself (like getting his team to blow the main bunch apart & then launch it on a climb, Finestre style).
If Jumbo manages that on Angliru, who do you think will get the stage win?The only such example I have for you, the guy in the camisola amarela literally gave up his chance to win the GC by agreeing to ride in in formation for the team, thus condemning himself to an inevitable defeat in the TT the following day.
Jumbo do this on Angliru, and it'll be the gold standard of absurdity for decades to come, it'd make Mapei Roubaix look like Dimension Data doing a 1-2 in a random Tour de Yorkshire stage.
Chase Evenepoel? Why? Jumbo don't have beef with him.I suspect they'll start chasing him from now on. Others as well. He had his 'redemption' breakaway win. They're not going to give him any more gifts.

They will cross the line simultaneously. If Jumbo manages that on Angliru, who do you think will get the stage win?

Remco has attacked but he’s not crying …. yet.Can Remco keep his crying streak going?
Romain Grégoire (Groupama-FDJ) estimates that "130 riders" will try to make it.
