This reminds me of the stage of the 2010 Tour that Cancellara neutralised. Looked like a lot of fun was going to break out, and then in the end everybody just rolled in at cyclotourist pace except Sylvain Chavanel.
Cancellara would also have tried to neutralize a drinking contest if he was on the loosing side and complained about the beer temperature...
 
And some people are acting like rider protests are something new.
Not to mentioned that Rolf Sørensen mentioned that he'd been part of one.
I miss the days when the organisers neutralised the race due to snow on the Puerto de Pajáres and all the riders were huddled and cold in Mieres waiting for the organisers to finally persuade Jesús Loroño to come back, because he'd started gaining on Bahamontes on the climb and was refusing to accept that they were neutralising the stage.
