Obviously you have this one which was straight up used a few years ago.

This one could absolutely be used, unfortunately it's right next door to Angliru so will probably not get used for that reason.

This one is mostly usable, it's either paved, hormigón or a couple of bits of sterrato.

This is mostly hormigón.

This one is the most extreme, but it's only paved as far as Yananzanes, but it's a sterrato track until the second arroyo at circa 5,4km. After that it's absolutely nothing like a condition to use, but if they could pave it up...

And that's the easy side of the climb.

They can also ride now through the Cacilhas side, where there is the mountain bike center and downhill track, which has a way harder start and has two options: one easier with a couple of descents in the middle, and one harder through some dirt roads that later rejoin the traditional side to Alto do Trevim.

I honestly am a bit surprised we've seen neither Cuitu Negru nor Bola del Mundo since 2012.

I've read an interview with Guillén today where he answered questions about his assessment of the race and the protests about the TTT conditions, the modifications of stages 2 and 9, the Jumbo domination and their non-stomp agreement after Angliru. Then, without being asked on the subject he mentioned the mountain stages in Andorra and the French Pyrenees, the iconic climbs such as Tourmalet and Angliru and the stages of Cruz de Linares and Guadarrama as their bet in a year where participation might have been affected by the superworlds being before the Vuelta. And he asks himself, Would we have included less icons if the worlds had not been before the Vuelta? Maybe... I won't say no.

So we have one additional input for the prediction of the route quality. Odd numbered years are decent, even numbered years are bad, and superworld years will be iconic.

Then there is the rumour that Unipublic is running a multi-year plan to revisit all the MTFs in the 2020 edition, which were raced with no public at the roadside. If that is true we still miss Ézaro, Arrate, La Farrapona, La Covatilla and Moncalvillo. Here I'll count the start of the Tourmalet stage this year as the due visit to Formigal.

Other than that, there are rumours about going to Andalucía and skipping the Pyrenees. And no Canary Islands either.
