Big congrats to Rogla for winning his 4th Vuelta, against the odds and with a new team. He still got it.
And O'Connor for good tactics and making the race interesting for a long while. And Mas with another strong podium performance.

While that may be, he was still coming from an accident and with a new team. Not to mention the mental aspect of crashing hard in Basque, still making the Tour in good form, then crashing out yet again. So that's why I said against oods, just not the bookies odds.

Nice win by Kung. Great result for O'Connor albeit in his final race with the team. The team will be happy and sad as it's been a while since they podiumed a grand tour. The most entertaining grand tour of the season. Good to see Gaudu back in some form and Carapaz seems to think his form has returned for the longer races. If Simon Yates can win a Vuelta then Mas can as well but it won't be against Roglic.

Küng stomp and Roglic romp - chapeau both of them! Red Bull/Bora's problem is there's 2 maybe 3 other guys out there who are favourites for the Tour next year before Roglic.

I take it you didn't watch last year.

I know it was, for once, an entertaining stage. But that happens once in every ten years (Vinokourov in Champs Elysees early 2000s, Keisse in Rome early 2010s, almost Remco in Madrid early 2020s).

I rather have an ITT with a bit of suspense even if it is for minor placings with a competitive flat stage in between the final week than the other way around.

Logistically .it might be a challenge for the city holding the race (having Madrid closed to traffic for almost half of the day, especially late evening is a nightmare), but it is rather beautiful - you get to see more of the town for outside viewers and for the local spectators have almost 3 hours of cycling.

I feel that even more acutely after the Vuelta than the other GTs because we know there is only a month of races left in the season. Fortunately there are some good races to look forward to with the classics riders returning to action.
