Alasdair Fotheringham will stick pick him as a favorite over Mas.The only way Del Toro could get the white jersey was to fight him on the road!!

No idea, I assumed it was real. Just saw the comment and looked up what cat scratch fever is.Is that a real thing from race radio or just a snide dig at Tiberi given his history with cats.
I'm not asking for a lot, no new ground for the Vuelta is involved. Just do the same roads they have used before in a better way.Meanwhile I wanna see Pico Veleta junction from the south road after Haza del Lino but I can never get what I want
Ah, you really have been away from cycling. Lots of memes to catch up with.No idea, I assumed it was real. Just saw the comment and looked up what cat scratch fever is.
Tiberi has a history with cats?
They said he crashed!?
Yes cause race radio said it, but he didn't (Woods did). He just unclipped. It didn't hinder his performance.
IIRC you could extend the loop 3-4km by doing mindless loops around the ski resort area.Yeah, but because the stage is so short, I don't expect the gruppetto to be more than 40 minutes behind at the top of the second climb. Heck, they'd probably need to be more than 45 minutes down after 84 km to be lapped. In that case, they'd fall for the time-cut anyway.
EDIT: Hmm, maybe more like 35'-40'.
I take it in jest, but the guy is a quality rider, and the conditions can be deadly, heat stroke is what was reported. Looking at the race, guy is flying, has chance to walk w white jersey, great daily and overall results. For him to quit, without a serious crash, without something physically stopping him, limb falling off, his abandonment should be seen as serious. Guy wouldn't give up unless he was forced to..[[deleted content]]

I realllyyy want to see Carapaz win a stage!
As it turns out, this is everybody’s best chance to win the Vuelta.I do hope Mas takes heart from today's performance rather than retreating into his shell, this is still probably his best chance at winning a Vuelta.
Heatstroke. He had a very high body temperature, headache and dizziness.Tiberi DNF.
Crashed on the final descent. Will undergo further checks to rule out a broken collarbone. What about Josh Tarling? Also just realized he DNF.
Real bummer. He was going so well. Hopefully he can come back strong in the Italian autumn races. Although I think GTs are where he really shines.Heatstroke. He had a very high body temperature, headache and dizziness.
Feeling better today.
He was quite good in Lombardia 2023 and again in Liege 2024 despite working a lot for his teammates, so I reckon he can deliver some decent results in a long hard race despite not being particularly explosive.Real bummer. "I honestly didn't give a sh*t about GC today, it was all about the stage," Yates concludes. "I just went full gas. We really had nothing to lose so yeah, I just suffered all the way to the line."
I think you're being a bit dramatic there. Okay fair, they underestimated BOC. But Yates wasn't 09:30 down on BOC for no reason. He said himself, that he wasn't in it for the GC. But you're also right, RBBH doesn't have a team as commanding as peak Sky or Visma - they clearly need to choose their battles. But not everything hinges on them, others with a stake in GC are not prohibited to do some work.So the team plan was go for the stage -

Bora & Roglic have now lost lots of minutes to 2 different guys going up the road, which I think shows a weak team. Roglic not being able to follow Mas and going full Covid face mask at the start, is not a good sign. Maybe Bora's weakness is a bug going around?
carapaz literally always delivers something worth heaps of fantasy cycling points (except if crashing out of the le tour)His rise to fame was quickly followed and eclipsed by the dawn of the super riders era. But since then, there's almost no one else who as regularly show himself and try something in big races - be it brilliant or sad - without being considered a freak talent or one of the big boys. In this crazy time, it's easy to overlook that Richard Carapaz is such a star.
