Yeah he's been doing this since the very start of his career. Mini Almeida.
It makes a lot of sense on these super steep climbs. Literally no reason not to follow your own pace. On 8% ones then it's a bigger issue

Vingegaard's once again getting towed on Angliru by a guy who's displeased with his team.
For sure but Almeida is racing himself into a position of only racing Vingegaard, ..setting up for only one or 2 good moves to win GC, everyone else is completely burnt. Kuss is looking good, Hindley doing really really well considering..
Almeida has a great poker face, guy does not look in pain at all

I agree theres no participation trophy but Simmons or 2 in Vuelta while trying to win not the same thing. But complaining simultaneously about anyone who tries to attack rather than just waiting isn’t it either how can you win if not?

I mean, if someone’s simply better, what can you do? You can lose without trying, or lose while trying. The way I see it, the latter deserves more respect. Also it would be very different if the onus wasnt on Almeida to attack, no? He is not in red.

That said praising ppl for just trying with zero results is simultiouasly not smart tacitcs, ofc I agree, its a double edge sword. I just dont agree on this particular climb were talking about today since he got time to catch up.
I was doing the exact opposite, didn't complain about attacking, nobody did, still have not attacked, just pacing Jonas..nobody is attacking anyone, setting tempo for Visma
