João has made this a more interesting Vuelta battle for GC. It's not a done deal for Vingo.
I respect Pogacar because he is a cannibal, and gives nothing. Jonas is more calculating, maddeningly so many times. I can understand why that makes people dislike him, but days like to day are ones that make me like him. Almeda deserved the win, and I think Jonas agreed, even if others do not.I think you are right.
I said he should have reecced this very important climbHow? What would he have done differently? Put on different legs this morning?
It's not ridiculous, because it's what he did. It's the gentlemanly thing to do. I'm not saying he would have won, but he didn't even try to pass Almeida before that final corner.Do I still expect Vingegaard to eventually win GC? Yeah. But it's ridiculous to think he gifted today's stage to Almeida because "he wanted to give respect to how Almeida did in the last 6 km"
It actually isn't. You're not assessing the man, your assessing what other riders would do. Pogacar contests everything, he is a cannibal. Jonas is a mathematician, he had no real need to take the stage, as his calculus takes into account that he won't lose meaningful time to Almeda, and may in fact, drop Almeda again. Think what you will, but I disagree.Do I still expect Vingegaard to eventually win GC? Yeah. But it's ridiculous to think he gifted today's stage to Almeida because "he wanted to give respect to how Almeida did in the last 6 km"
UAE, yikes. At least Tiberi hit the deck so there was something to elevate another snooze fiesta.
I'll say that in the unexpected Danish Green Jersey Battle, I'm a little surprised that Pedersen got more points today.
Do you get this from New York Yankees or Manchester United old newspaper clips? Lol....In the US one of our lottery games has a current prize value of @$1.82 billion dollars..Yes the sportswashing team with by far the biggest budget getting their 600th whatever stage this year is definitely "Cycling wins."
I’m not sure that’s how great champions think.I think in the end, he recognized that Almeda deserved the win, and decided to not contest. Not saying he would have won if he had, but he gave respect to Almeda's ride, IMO.
Guy is out there dedicating his life to be one of the best cyclists in the world, and on a level you aren't at anything you do in your life, and he's a coward. One is a Viking - the other one a coward![]()
That finish is well known. Because of the many turns, it would be really hard to launch a proper sprint. As soon as Almeida was still in front when those turns started, I knew it would be hard for Jonas to pass Almeida. It's not ridiculous, because it's what he did. It's the gentlemanly thing to do. I'm not saying he would have won, but he didn't even try to pass Almeida before that final corner.
I'll take that over someone like Armstrong, any day.I’m not sure that’s how great champions think.
TP was really suffering but still came in 7th, and he's still 3rd in GC. So he be deserving some puppy love!![]()
Puppies!
Yeah, duh. Because he didn't try! I already knew 3 k from the finish that Vingegaard would gift the win. That finish is well known. Because of the many turns, it would be really hard to launch a proper sprint. As soon as Almeida was still in front when those turns started, I knew it would be hard for Jonas to pass Almeida.
I doubt very many people assume Almeida can/will beat Vingo. At least not those dealing with reality. What if the Vuelta is decided by the other day's stage? So far, the difference did in the day Vingegaard won, and the team left Almeida alone.
Stages can never come before the GT. Not in UAE, they're not Lotto or Caja Rural.
