Well, the Philipsen group was caught. Guess Hoole making it to the front, giving Trek 6 riders in the breakaway, would have been a bit... much.

Anyone has a working link for the stream of the stage?
Eurosport is showing some MTB farmers currently...

Perfect scenario for Trek. It's like the other teams don't understand that. 2 guys up the road is controllable.

The gap is increasing with the two riders.
They shouldn't have let them go beyond a minute.

It's way better for them to catch them relatively late. This is just the same strat as they would use if they were the peloton.

All that just to be beaten by Stewart in the end knowing Pedersen this Vuelta.

Yeah, well, you can never call out complaining without doing it yourself. That doesn't mean the calling out is unjustified, however.

Not that you do much of that, I was honestly quite surprised that you had written that post.

Teams should of course try to get the most out of stages and races as they can, but attempting to bridge across to a 40 rider group controlled by Trek when the gap was already 3 minutes wasn't exactly a wise move, even if it was their only remaining option at that point.

The current situation is good for Lecerf.

Not if they continue giving minutes to Vine

In a breakaway, it's harder to organize a chase because counterattacks will begin.
I don't know if LIDL can control those two minutes when other riders attack them.

They shouldn't have been given this amount of time.

I do think 2 minutes is a bit risky, but the whole point to take them late and give them some space is to not encourage early counterattacks. Any other team should now just let Trek do it and hope they burry themselves behind those 2 so they can attack late and Trek doesn't have the energy anymore to control.

It's already over 2:30. Soon it'll be 3 minutes. It's over for LIDL if the gap doesn't stop increasing.

It's really 2 vs 1. Only one LIDL rider is pulling . If they don't have more help, they won't catch them.

They can say goodbye. Vine and Vervaeke are really strong in La Vuelta. Ridiculous ride by Lidl Trek., 3 minutes….

Well yeah 3 minutes is obviously too much. I don't get why they are only pulling with one.

I fully agree with this. If Ayuso did it as a favorite and everyone praised him, Verbaeke has even more reason to do so, given how strong Vine is.

No he shouldn't cause Quick Step has almost no other chance to win this. It's not like Vine is super fast or anything. Sure Vervaeke is probably not beating him but it's still Quick Steps best shot.

Correct.

A general complaint about complaints is self-undermining.

A justified complaint about particular unjustified complaints is not.

Likewise, a positive argument for positivity is also much better than a general, negative argument against negativity.

The great advantage of general complaints is that they take much less effort, so when they are expected to express a common sentiment, you don't need to pursuade anyone and waste your energy by spelling out what others already know. Establishing common knowledge merely with low-effort posts can thus be very efficient. Hurray for complaints!

We haven't seen Vine in much sprinting, I don't know if he's slow.

He can help but not that much.
