He has done this before. He is weakest when there is a sudden change of tempo when he's not his best. Afterwards, he's usually quite good at limiting the damage, as he again showed here. A weakness, partly offset by a strength.
He did exactly what he should have to limit losses. This does bode poorly for the remaining mountain stages, though. It's going to get harder and his team isn't likely to be with him as much as they should be.
Still....it's a long race.

Roglic put in a big effort to break clear of the other GC riders but couldn't really sustain that pace and the others such as Ayuso, Almeida, Uijtdebroeks, Remco etc eventually started riding back to both he and Vingegaard up front. That for me is the glimmer of hope for the other riders such as Remco and Ayuso. Plus Vingegaard visually at least, looked to be suffering badly nearing the end of the stage.

But it's definitely Jumbos race to lose, the internal team dynamics from here on in will be interesting with Kuss very much in play for GC now as well.

I hope they don't make Kuss work for Vinge and Roglic now. If they really are about the team win they need to get behind GC Kuss.
Also, how cool would it be to win each GT with a different rider. Probably a record never to be broken again.

Jumbo has a luxury problem now.
They came into this GT with no pressure, having already won all GT's this year, but now they have to think hard who they are going to launch into the top seat in the 3rd week.

09 Astana vibes. Will be interesting to see if they work together or start to attack each other.
