Remco doesn't stand a chance on a proper mountain stage in this Vuelta or at next year's tour. Career at a crossroad. Good but not quite good enough at the grand tours. He should focus on one day and week long races imo.
Just needs the right route tbh. The Tour likely suits him better as you can get a route there that could be TT heavy and with long but not steep climbs.

...and the Zubeldia award today goes to Ayuso

No, the Zubeldia award goes to Almeida, he only lost 7 seconds to Ayuso and we almost never saw him. Both of them defended themselves really well. If this was just a bad day, Remco also defended himself pretty well. Vlasov disappointing.

Deserved stage win for Kuss but I think that he will be eventually dropped. Martinez with the biggest achievement of his career, I can see him getting into the final top5 if he has luck on his side.

Honestly, that was a pretty great stage. No idea how things develop from here. Was this just a bad day for Remco? Is he also ill or maybe injured after his crash? And in any case, what will Jumbo do with Kuss almost three minutes ahead of their two leaders? Control for Kuss to take the gc or ride for Roglic and Vingegaard? But then will those two start attacking each other? This stage threw so, so many variables into the mix.

Happy to see Kuss land this stage. no doubt Jumbo Visma is ecstatic to see Kuss get the stage, early, and he got one in the bank, and maintain the bigger teamperspective.
Very impressive time-loss management by Remco.

I reckon they are also happy to see Vingegaard holding on if he struggling with some stomach issues, as his force is usually not in the first half, but in the second half of these grand tours, like we have seen in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Tour de France.

Could be, but Roglic made a move with his elbow to take over in the last 200-300m, and Vingegaard didn't. Could be at the limit, or Vingegaard was playing mind games.

Both worked for each other tbh, from what we saw. It was a great day for them.

He looked genuinely happy in that interview just now.

Yep. Happy Rogla. This Vuelta is going to be fun.

Kuss has almost 3 minutes on remco, mas, roglic, vineggggard, ajuso etc
After the TT that gap should have been brought down by at least 1'30 if not 2'.
Just the scenario of Kuss being rock solid uphill and limiting the damage in the TT... And he could pull this off. But how likely is it? 3rd grand tour in a year. Crashed hard in that Tour. Any other 'domestique' would already long been on a beach in the sun, enjoying a very good season.

According to Kron, someone on FDJ told him that they weren't going for GC, but - as he so nicely put it - "They probably do."

Wow, what a shuffle in the GC! Congrats to Kuss on winning the stage! 3 GTs of hard work and finally a stage win. Remco and co may have let Kuss and Martinez too much time, those guys won't be easy to catch in the GC! In other news JV dream duo attacked Remco successfully today: first Primoz, then Jonas joined. What a performance by the team, Remco has almost no gap on the two stars now.

Lol unlike many of the youngsters that are hyped by the media and other forum users, Remco already won a Grand Tour... Plus he is a double LBL winner and World Champion. He should continue on the same path as he is doing right now because that path already made him one of the greats of this generation. Just hope that he is not sick, that would be cruel after the Giro. Another possibility is that he might be a bit too heavy in this Vuelta due to his focus on the Worlds TT.
