Take it easy on the guy. Like he said he's new to cycling and I understand his way of thinking.
Riding hard on the front of a group pretty much destroys your chances of winning a stage. The reasons of pulling a group or peloton are:
-You got a very good sprinter in your team which can win a bunchsprint.
-You are dragging your teammate up a mountain for his GC.
-You are a GC rider and a lot of potention competitors for the GC have been dropped and you want to increase the gap on them.
There are more. Wiggins knew he wouldn't win when he was pulling the first group up the mountain, but he also knew he has by far the best TT of that group so losing some boniseconds at the finish won't hurt him.
Wiggins has a serious shot at getting the red jersey tomorrow.
