sean kelly is having a few days off so we can understant the eurosport commentary for once.. :D

this is kinda dull though.. one of the great things about the prologue usually is the atmosphere and the crowd.. why are there no crowd at the barriers, all in those silly grandstands.. totally lacking in atmosphere :(

Certaintly.

Cancellara wins, not a genius pick there.

His knowledge is so vast and rarely makes a mistake. He adds to the commentary and it's not painful to listen to as we usually have mistakes every 5 seconds from Phil.

Yeah. Did you know Lance Armstrong has comeback to raise awareness for cancer? We get told that all the time.

Ha ha ha... that is so true! If you are "lucky", at some events you can fork over $9 for a Heineken.
That's obscene! Not a decent brew, either.
I used to refer to it as Swineken.

I thought the coverage was OK, considering where they held it and I definitely heard a crowd roar for Schlekette, Canc and Basso....

I think no one has ever done it, infact I think it is quite rare someone would do all three. i had a look through the wikipedia link the other fellow posted and found none, although my methods might miss something, and probably wrong :S. Quite a lot of guys have worn all three of course, but I don´t think anyone ever wore all three in one year.

Good result for basso, I would like him to win a big tour after his return, he seems like a lovely fellow, and quite talented a fellow. I would find it shame if his biggest win was the 2006 giro with all that happened that year. Also vinokourov is looking good in the time trials so far, I hope he wins one here, I think he might.

I can name one guy who did it in all three consecutively, but not in the same year (Vuelta one year, Giro and Tour the next year)

i dont think its ever been done...
my method was using the lists to go the list of pink jersey holders to find every non italian holder and search to see if they had ever held the gold, and if so if it was the same year, and then if they had search for yellow jerseys held.

then took every single non spanish holder of the vuelta, to see if they had held the pink, and the few that had checked the year, and then searched for yellow jersey wins

(in the logic that very few italians have ridden the vuelta and very few spaniards the giro).. basically covered the lot.. and im 99% certin that no rider has held all three in one year..
