Presumably some kind of penalty for an overly sticky bottle, an illegal feed or something similar? Why was Simmons 20 seconds back the rest of the main GC guys having finished s.t. as the winner in the first two stages?
Doubt Evenepoel had much left in the legs for an attack after passing half the peloton straight in the wind though. Also two times in three days that Jakobsen didn't end up sprinting, work to do for Soudal. Should have let Evenepoel attack in the final kilometre with the GC in mind, IMO.
Preferably one like Mount Panorama, Potrero de los Funes or Laguna Seca.I think every sprint finish should end on a race circuit.
He would have raced that finale differently if he wasn't on domestique duty...Doubt Evenepoel had much left in the legs for an attack after passing half the peloton straight in the wind though.

I don't think so. He was stuck in the latter half of the peloton for ages. In both cases he would've liked to be more up front. He would have raced that finale differently if he wasn't on domestique duty...

Apparently he was penalised for drafting behind a car, called it a "silly" penalty in the winners interview. Why was Simmons 20 seconds back the rest of the main GC guys having finished s.t. as the winner in the first two stages?
I have to say I am envious of his hair and beard. He's like a character from Lord of the Rings or something.
Remco: "What do you mean it's my fault huh? I am not the sprinter here, I am just the world champion. It's not my fault my teammates are so slow."
At least he's ditched the stupid proud boys haircut.I have to say I am envious of his hair and beard. He's like a character from Lord of the Rings or something.
QuickStep wanted to go for Remco, but instead changed tactics during the race and went all in for Jakobsen. How such a blunder can be made is beyond me, knowing Stybar almost literally made the blueprint.
Sigh. The riders on Quickstep would be rather stupid if they followed the blueprint of Stybar, a Jayco rider.
