Wow, are you sure they are going that way? That's awesome; I thought they were just climbing to Ixua on the normal way from Eibar (i.e. the traditional Arrate route). That's going to be a great stage - especially if there is any rain!

Take into account that this climb is 34km before the end, the final climb is the same as always

Sure, but still, that kind of gradient is seriously going to weaken a few legs. And after the descent, they start the San Miguel pretty much straight away, so we could even see attacks from the big guns there - not just waiting until the final climb up Arrate.

You don't know Aia then.

The final will be the same as in 2010, just look at how the race developed back then. Proper racing.

Aia is a much harder climb, the peloton will break in pieces IMO

I had to specify, among the favorites . Among them I do not see the intention of attacking" from far".
maybe the Sky duo...but i'm not sure

You don't have to attack from far on Aia, in 300-400m you can create some serious damage, the climb is insanely steep. Henao will try for sure, he saw he's the strongest

I agree martin is a climber. but roche no way. roche is a rouleur, a strenght rider who can lower his loss in the mountains but he never gains anything in the mountains like climbers do.

Ok so that is the definition of a climber ...so where would you put Valverde in that definition...never saw him gain anything on a mountain nor Konig for that matter or Van de Broeck or what about Dumoulin ??
and what about Zubeldia .....never see him at all

It feels that way. He sits at the back of the peloton for days on end and then pops up to win. He could be getting regular top 10s in WT stage races but I guess he prefers the thrill of putting everything into one stage per race.

Strangest thing is Cummings does what many state is bad. That is doing no work . Yet he is lauded. Reckon there are a few hypocrites in this forum.

Can someone give me more information about the different sides of the Aia? Which one is the hardest, the 1st, 2nd or 3rd? And what about the Garate? That one looks really hard on the profile.

Here is where Horner won Pais Vasco in the ITT.

Second and third are in a row, so for that is a selective strecht.

You did watch the 2015 Tour de France, right? Especially that stage which Cummings won, having been in the day's breakaway from km 5 or so, before going on the attack at the end? That wasn't exactly a Gerrans move...

The reason why people call gerrans a wheelsucker are not the stages in which he wins in a bunch sprint though.

Gorla? Cool. Do you go there every year to see the race?

The race was a couple weeks ago, couldn't see much because I was helping my sister in the canteen that there is in the top. There were quite a lot of people watching the race (not many young people because the day before was a big party day in town). There is also an anual car race climb in Gorla.

I will investigate that of ask for it...I think that Contador was the best one, but I am not sure. Amador won with 2 climbs to Gorla in an impressive break from far (when his director asking him to stop). But Gorla is not always the best reference, I remerber Fraile was impressing there and now is an average rider. Intxausti did very well, I hope to find out times, but difficult.

Well, I didn't like his Tirreno win, because he didn't work and then screwed them over. He can defend his actions but I didn't like it. Same for Van Avermaet's stage win. Today doesn't count as such, because he wasn't really in a breakaway group where everyone is supposed to contribute. He just attacked at the right moment to get the win. And regarding the Tour last year, that was about pacing himself up that climb indiviudally, which he did very well, and the tactical failure of the two French guys.

Thank you, my friend. Yes I think Landa had to tackle Gorla twice, but I don't remember when the format changed... Anyway, just a bit of reminiscing of the Naturgas days. Climbing wise, Pello Bilbao has been a disappointment too, but maybe he is improving slightly. Thanks again!
