Quintana a clear favorite. The route is really good for Purito, but I have no idea about his form. Also age seems to be taking a toll on him. Nieve is really good when on top form, but not on the same level as Quintana. Henao at his best would be a match for Nairo of course, but obviously he is not there yet.
Anyway, a great route going through one really beautiful corner of this world.

pinot to get fdj's first win right after jumbo win the volta limburg classic.

the only sprinters i see riding this are matthews, impey, swift, and meersman. that's either too many sprinters or too few

good to see caja rural's young climber hugh carthy in i guess his first WT race.

I really like this years route.

The race feels a bit predictable with Quintana looking like the obvious winner but you never know. Hopefully there will be some good racing :)

This is definitively the best week of the year with the Ronde, Pais Vasco and Roubaix.

Between will we have independent threads for each stage or should i just stick this like it was done for Catalunya?

A new thread a day would mean less cluttered conversations I guess.

That's true, but as a sign of respect for Arredondo's effort I think we should make this a sticky and the race thread alone. It has worked with other one-week races, and even though Pais Vasco is likely to motivate lots of traffic and posts, i'm sure it's going to be alright.

Now I agree with you more than I agree with me.

One could simply copy Arredondo's preview for every stage in the separate stage threads..

I think Murito is the favourite here, those power hills are more suited for him, otoh Quintana had some terrific form lately :)

GOAT race design for a week long stage, has everything it needs.

Quintana will be very hard to beat,

Would definitely have been better if the Aia stage had ended with a descent. Still great route though.

Competition at the top looks thin. Quintana vs a recovering Purito. Is Purito recovered enough to make a fight of it? I surely hope so otherwise it could just be the Quintana show.

You guys really need to man up . . . . "as a sign of respect" Sigh...Eshnar has made bigger threads analysing the giro routes many times before and that never stopped us from making individual race threads. Besides i highly doubt Arredondo will feel so offended that he will march upon us on the back of a dragon commanding an army of unsulied, dothraki and free men and destroy us all.

Then why did you ask in the first place? Change ''respect'' with ''appreciation'', there, better. No one suggested your hyperbolic fantasy either. Do what you want to do.

I asked simply to see if there would be enough interest in the race to generate the amount of traffic needed for new threads everyday.

But whatever. . .

to be fair i don't think this race is big enough to have 1 thread/stage

if tirreno had only 1 thread i don't see any reason that this one to have 7 threads, one for each stage

This sounds like the best option. We would have the individual stage profile and analysis at the top of each stage's thread. If someone wants a quick reference to a previous or next stage's profile and analysis they can jump to this original thread.

Dont think so, this punchy climbs doesnt suit him much, if Purito is in form he will be very hard to beat. If not I predict very open race. No clear favorite for me

I don't have any problems at all with the option Angliru proposes. I just started this thread with the idea of already starting a discussion on this race.

But because Catalunya and Tirreno also didn't had seperated threads for each stage, i thought this would also be the case for PV.

This should be a great race. Nairo is the favorite of course, but for some reason I think someone other than he or Purito will win.

I expect Talansky to be strong and do a top 5.

Interesting lineup from Greenedge. I don't think I've ever seen the Yates brothers and Chaves in the same race.

ALBASINI Michael
GERRANS Simon
CHAVES RUBIO Johan Esteban
IMPEY Daryl
MATTHEWS Michael
WEENING Pieter
YATES Adam
YATES Simon

another showcase for the "making of the next idol" it's hard to imagine anybody else winning it
