I want to see Enric, Atapuma, Majka and Bardet in the break.
Lame break lacking riders with climbing abilities will kill me.

I'm afraid Majka has no legs. No shape in this race.
He was decent on Xorret del Cati, and even if he'd bad he's better than some

Decent? He was fighting for the win and still lost on the ascent exactly 1'30 to the group (no hopes of victory) of Nibali, Zakarin, Poels, Chaves...

To be noted, before Pandera they'll tackle the infamous murito El Chaparral in Valdepeñas de Jaén with its 23% gradients.
Ouch that is bad for nibali. This murito can put some riders on the red

Nah, that climb is really short. I doubt it will have any impact on the race

Ofc he lost time. He spent the whole day in the break.

And what did poor de Clerc do to be the but of such exaggeration
De Clercq wasn't target here
Was just first name came in to my mind; rather random victim.
But still, who was attacking, trying to drop Alaphilippe on Xorres de Cati?
De Clercq?
No, it was Majka who is - you may deny, i don't give a *** - part of world top class

Did you watch the way Majka and Alaphilippe rode that climb? No wonder Majka lost a lot of time to the front group when he was attacking and slowing down all the time. He's not in bad shape at all. If he hits the break and it is allowed to go away, I see very few riders (of those who are allowed to go in a break) capable of beating Majka.

It will certainly slim the peloton, I don't think there's much road after that before they tackle Pandera where positioning will be very important from the very beginning of the climb, the road is narrow and bad. All in all it will not be an easy stage before the big climb at the end.

The Sierra de la Pandera has only been a finish once before in the Vuelta. In 2009 Damiano Cunego won the stage from a breakaway. Alejandro Valverde lost 14 seconds to Samuel Sánchez, but he kept the leader's jersey.

IIRC Sierra de la Pandera has been finish at least three times before in the Vuelta ;)
2003: Valverde
2006: Kashechkin
2009: Cunego
Ah 2009... back when Gesink really put the pressure on Valverde, but Valverde with stood with flying colours. And back when I thought Gesink was going to be a future GT winner. In hindsight, that was probably the best Gesink we've ever seen, absolutely deserved podium there and not the bad luck at the end. Same bad luck that followed him every year through his career

I have the feeling this is going to be the last road stage where Froome gains time on his rivals, unless he's seriously hurt.

Yeah he was maybe the best climber that race and honestly Valverde wasn't that great, but somehow won that Vuelta by riding as conservative as possible throughout.

Valverde has really been one of the protagonist all 3 times up this climbs, 2003 was AWESOME, 2006 likewise, why isn't he here... :(

Forecast looks hot and sunny for the weekend which is good for Froome, hopefully he isn't feeling the effects of his spills on Thursday.

Think Sky will let the break go unless Froome is feeling super, so it will be up to the other teams if they want a stage win.

I doubt Sky will chase today, they'll want to stay fresh for tomorrow

Bad news for Sunweb: Sam Oomen has become ill. So Kelderman will probably be without helpers quickly.

Sad, he was doing well.

For today: Enric Mas Nicolau will win this bike race

A group with Majka, Konrad, Gougeard, Clarke, Villella, Costa, De Clercq (I guess he heard some people talk about him), Mate, Denifl and Vilela seems to have gone clear after 25km

I am not sure about the break making it. It could have been considerably stronger. I thought also Astana or Movistar would have been represented for the team competition. Maybe they nullified each other.
