Would be funny if QS worked to make sure there's no breakaway ahead at the intermediate, allowing Trentin to take the points, only for Moscon to outsprint Trentin for the stage and his leader's green

Well in that scenario Trentin could still win with 2nd on the stage, I think. So Moscon and Froome...

I think Trentin needs to win the stage to have any chance right? Only 20 points for second at the finish, max 4 at the sprint and he is 25 behind.
Yes

I would think there will be a pre-arranged 2 man break and Trentin will take the final point uncontested

I don't really know where to put this so I'll just write it here. Has anyone else noticed what a horrible indicator the first mountain stage was for the overall performance of the gc contenders. Out of the top ten in the general classification only 3 were in the first group on stage 3, while Zakarin, Contador, Kelderman, Poels, Woods, Lopez and Kruijswijk were all dropped by 9 riders of which most are nowhere in the final gc. Especially what happened to Chavez who looked superb that day and was by some even considered the only rider capable of beating Froome ended up 16 and a half minutes down on Froome and Bardet and Aru who were the 3rd and 4th strongest climbers on the climb at the end finished on 13th and 17th place. Does anyone remember a similar case where the guys who were the strongest climbers in the first mountain stage were completely different ones than the riders eventually finishing high in the gc?

Chris Froome takes a 26-point lead on Trentin in the green points jersey into the final stage.

1. FROOME C. SKY 153 pts
2. NIBALI V. TBM 128 pts
3. TRENTIN M. QST 127 pts

Will Alberto Contador win this bike race?
That would be greedy. Alberto Contador is a man of class, not greed. No. Enric Mas helped tremendously today, Contador has a favour to repay to Team EQS. Therefor, he will attack with Matteo Trentin just before the first intermediate sprint, ride away together and finish some 3'06" before the peloton containing the race leader, gifting the stage to Matteo Trentin.

The other possibility is a DNF due to massive hangover.

 Post of the day, probably..

When you've spent 19 days in the red jersey, finding a seat on the bus can be quite a problem @chrisfroome #LV2017

About time la Vuelta got a cuddly mascot! I'm just sad Berto doesn't have one for his collection despite 3 Vuelta wins, I'm sure his dogs would love it :)

He will surely be crowned most aggressive rider, so perhaps he may get one there?

Froomey fully deserves to win this Vuelta, but to me it's a melancolic day : AC retires, summer is gone and GT's season is over. Don't know if you have the same f****** feeling.
