I consider it respect for the green jersey. Sky/Froome not doing anything to win it could be interpreted as "the green jersey doesn't count"

That was really entertaining!

Yes :) it was certainly entertaining!!!

Question is, was that Froome's only attempt to win Green? I reckon he could get top 15 at the finish if he wants, but maybe he'll prefer to ride across the line with his teammates

Actually + point from me for Froome / Sky.
Froome took some risks sprinting there - he could loose Vuelta if he crashed.
It's a competition, so let's compete. That's what they are there for - not to give gifts.

Froome is endangering his Vuelta.

He's pissing off Terpstra

He dont want to do that !!!!! :surprised:

I find Froome is missing some emotional intelligence ...he is a nice mannered chap and is bright but emotionally he is not quite right

he is so determined to make history and go down as the best and win it all.....he is forgettign that cycling is also about popularity....a win is just a win unless you win over the fans

As in Gladiator " I was the best not because I won but because I won over the crowd" (or words to that effect

So when Valverde takes points in intermediates and the final sprint in Madrid to beat Purito out of the points jersey, it's all fine, but Froome can't do it because his rival is not a fellow GC contender and/or he actually wins the race?

I don't understand that. Was Merckx hated when he won all the jerseys in the Tour? Perhaps.

But Froome will perhaps not get other chances to win a GC points jersey, so why not go for it?

If this was Contador going for Green, you'd be saying it was the sign of a great champion. Because it's Froome it is a "lack of emotional intelligence".

GT Jerseys are earned through racing, not gifts. If Trentin wants it, he should earn it and he is good enough to do so.

I actually can't believe this!
Usually I stay out of the Froome criticisms, mainly because even though I am British I understand - and often feel - how frustrating it is to watch the SkyBots choo-choo.
But even when Froome does something slightly entertaining on one of the 3 most boring stages of the season, the hate on this forum explodes.
Imagine it was Contador who just did this. So many people here would be praising his entertainment value, how he fights to the last etc.

Well the most heard complaint about Froome is his riding being boring. Those people probably weren't disappointed by this. Or did you actually mean pissing off Terpstra would be damaging Froome's reputation

Has anyone made de calculations as to where Trentin/Froome need to finish now?
Trentin wins the stage & Froome 14th or lower, Trentin wins the jersey. Froome 13th, countback. Froome 12th or better, Froome gets the jersey.
Trentin doesn't win the stage, Froome gets another jersey.
