anyway the green jersey is supposed to recompense the most consistent rider - not the best sprinter (see Sagan, Kelly, Zabel, VanSpringel, etc...)

and if you love the vuelta for all its hilly stages, then the green jersey most likely should go to an all-rounder.

No, that's what the leader's jersey is for.

Green jersey in the Tour doesn't reward the most consistent rider, otherwise all stages would give equal points. The competition actually is not in Sagan's favour, he's just so good and talented that he wins it anyway.

The Vuelta Points Jersey is so flawed it becomes pointless.

also, reason they got rid of the "combine" white jersey at the TDF and replaced it with the "best young rider" white jersey is precisely because - generally - the gc winner would also win white. just as happened with the vuelta, which is really not a grand tour any more. it is a test of for who is the best climber.

the vuelta has been absolutely ridiculous for many years now. not GT material at all. forever the weakest and least significant of the GTs...

Looks odd having the whole team up for the most combative rider award though, or those guys who have only been with him this year, and only in a couple of races, to be part of his retirement podium.

I did, for about 10 seconds today when they were talking about the record. For 99.99% of the Vuelta, he's been a ninja.
