I have heard they might take the 138.

The official course will be out this week

This is what I've heard as well. They will come down from Wrightwood, cross the I-15 freeway in the Cajon Pass (on hwy 138), ride along the south edge of Silverwood Lake and then climb up to Crestline (hard, steep, not very long) and then come across hwy 18 through snow valley, artic circle and drop down to Big Bear Lake.

This course will finish on a mountain top but will not be a mountain top finish. The last significant climb would be up to Crestline and that's probably 25 miles from the finish (going from memory here).

True, but it's not real steep or very long. Then it's mostly downhill to the lake once you hit artic circle. Some up and down after that to the finish.

Maybe the guys will be knackered from all the climbing early on and make for an exciting finish. Can't help from being disappointed tho. AEG could have made an epic, epic stage if they wanted to.

Edit: I like beer (trying to stay on topic).

Yeah they could have finished at the ski lift at Mt. Baldy, but they wouldn't get the kind of crowd they got at the Rose Bowl. Be a nasty climb though especially if they went up HWY 39 and climbed the back way to Glendora Ridge Road first.

Or they could've come up hwy 38 and finished at Onyx Summit. Over 8,000 ft in elevation and coming up through Redlands it's something like 40+ miles of climbing to the finish.

Neither of which options has a merchant base that will give the organizers a suitcase of money in return for having the race finish there.

A huge climbing day will kill the domestic riders. I think it is confirmed that it is finishing at Onyx summit but then I have also heard it will finish at the resort. We will know this week.

Maybe Backabby Thursday night? I might not be able to go big as it looks like we will ride hard Friday. We hope to ride much of the last part of the course up to Big Bear and meet up with some friends who have a house near the finish. Should be a 5 hour, 10,000 foot day and we will chop off a bunch of the course.

I found the secret to drinking less. Drink [scottish accent] crappy beer! No offense whatsoever to the Aussies, but I picked up 2 twelve packs of Fosters Beer on sale at $6.99 USD each for the Superbowl. I still have plenty and that's what I'm drinking now...

As mentioned earlier no one in Australia drink Fosters and at most establishments you won't be able to buy any of it.

When I was in Vancouver I took a liking to Whistler's Pale Ale.

I actually drink Miller's Genuine Draft alot.

Hahn Super Dry Mid Strrength Low Card is a nice drop that has recently come onto the market.

Not drinking it now. When I was in Prague in 2007, this was dirty cheap, and good too!

 There's a perfectly good explanation why you still have the Fosters ! .. ITS CRAP.

Thats the whole reason why we export it .... If it tastes like crap, smells like crap and looks like crap ... it is crap.

As stated before.... we dont drink Fosters here for that reason. Its actually embarrasing that Australia is associated with it.

See if you can get your hands on a "Coopers 62" pilsener. Thats actually tasty!

It wasn't me who likes MGD ( you got the posts and posters mixed up{perhaps a drunk post?:D}) and believe me, I'm "teachable." While I was perfectly willing to pay $6.99 for Fosters, I would not do the same for MGD, or any other Miller product. To be sure, however, this was a lesson which reaffirms a solid belief in quality over quantity. In fact, while I'm at it, Fosters is better than Miller.

Oh yeah, terribly sorry, that was Glockers. An affinity for MGD is a horrible thing to be falsely accused of. My apologies!
As an aside, all my posts are drunk posting, but please don't tell anyone.:D

To be fair in the States at most bars all i could find was Millers, Bud or Heinekein. I don't like the other two options. I usually just went Irish whiskey.

Millers Chill is disgusting though.

You must have been in a particularly redneck part of the country, probably not far from where ravens lives, we have roughly 400 beers that are better than those. I rate Miller bud and Coors right up there with Fosters and 4X as the worst possible ways to get drunk that aren't served with an umbrela in them.
I am right there with you on the Miller Chill and now we have something even worse, although to be fair I have not summoned the courage to try it yet. That is Clamato and Bud, it's called a Chelada or something like that which leads me to believe that they are trying to victimize the Mexican-American population with it. I like Clamato as long as it has some vodka, worchester, tabasco, and celery salt in it, but I am not ready to try it with spudweiser.

Out for dinner and I had a Stella. Then I remembered that one brewed and bottled in Australia is just dire.
