Oh, good. More stalkers.

Yeah, I do. You may not get to the cities often. No need to drink crap ale all your life

Anyway, Omnipollo Noa Pecan Mud Cake, Imp. Stout 11% brewed with pecans. Smooth and rich. Seek it.

It's OK. I've been to your country and drank your sh*t beer.

Ill leave the 'pecan' beer to you.

Yup. Like I said I've been to your country and drank your *** beer.

I can understand why you have to drink Swedish. I would too.

In fairness, American (and Canadian) beer culture has exploded with micro-brews. It's not all schlitz or coors these days. Not by a long shot.

Good to hear it. The situation was pretty desperate when I was last over there.

Actually, it has exploded here too....but it happened from an already healthy starting point. It's possible that the US interest was influenced by the beer scene in the UK (after all, think about what IPA means) but I can tell you that the influences are coming the other way, and there is some interest in US 'craft' beers. It pains me to say it (from a piquing aphronesis standpoint) but the ones I have tried weren't too bad.

It's better to taste it. :) My favourite summer beer is Geuze, has been for 20 years, and now sours are coming into fashion. It really has exploded and with all the "throw out out the old rules and experiment" attitude that N.A. is best at doing.

Well I've had a few actually, but over here what turns up on our shores tends you be pretty alcoholic 6% upwards, much in the style of Belgian beers.

I did have something from San Diego, ("heavy"??) which was pretty good.

Beer culture over here though isn't really about bottles, at home (or in a pub/bar). It's about pints, usually more than two, which is why the super strong stuff is niche.

Well yeah, thus the "sessions" beer fad. It's all over the road here. The main problem for me is that most people that have "sessions" around here drink Lucky lager, or Budweiser. :) Although I met an Irish ex-pat yesterday. :D

p.s. it would be easy enough for me to post multiple pictures of tap rows, as you did, with all local brews in pubs/bars.

Well, as you will see from the US politics thread, the UK does have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol. So do the Irish.

But the Finns make both nations look like total amateurs. Never seen anything like it.

I don't doubt it.

Actually, that place I photo posted is pretty amazing. Massive range but it is all exceptionally well kept. The only problem is you find an amazing beer (and that Scottish one I posted was stunning) and the next time you go in its gone.

Being of Welsh, Irish, English, Scottish, Swedish and Finnish ancestry I may have a problem. :)

The worst display I've ever seen was at an England - Australia rugby league match in Oz. Unbelievable debauchery on a large scale. People were past out on the sidewalks, on the streets, in garden beds, on the sidewalk and the street. Here, there and everywhere.

Worst I've ever seen was on a ferry from Estonia to Helsinki. Everyone was blasted, including children. In the arrivals hall if anyone had lit a match the whole building would have been blown of the face of the planet.

yeah, the children part is disturbing but otherwise it's funny. The ferry up the west coast. of B.C. used to be a party, mostly natives on deck but fun. No idea what it's like these days.

It really has to do with hours of sunlight, I'm convinced. Travelling from Northern Germany or the Netherlands to the Mediterranean is a shift in attitudes as much as anything else. Sunshine.

It's the sunlight thing without a doubt. Summer is for beer training, by autumn it's for real.

Pliny the Elder. Less than £4. Better than you.

Yep. The locals are spoiled.

Big long lines these days if the Younger ever graces your parts.

Who cares. There are so many micro-brews making so much tasty beer you can keep your local legend. Americans are great myth makers.

Robert Parker was terrible for the world of wines ...but...wait for it...American. Big, bold fruit, Yup.

The Burgundian's showed the way to deal with these blowhards. Parker hasn't been back.

How edgy.

What does wine have to do with the beer thread?

Myth maker? Hey dude, all those that want the beer are wrong and you are right.

I've done a little digging and discovered that some of the really good beers I've been tasting in the local alehouse are using American hops. Amarillo and Citrus etc.

Goose Island, Lolita.

American style wild/sour beer aged in cab barrels with raspberries. 7.8 %.
Hazy amber, unbalanced flavor: various kinds of sour with no nuance or range. Maybe in a few years,. It was a gift and part of the Ambev line: not worth trying otherwise.
