Beautiful car, Hugh Januss.

1987 Toyota Corolla sedan. It's a little rusted, and has always been unattractive, but we hope to keep it for a few years yet.

Mr Spare Tyre and I try to minimize our carbon footprint, so we have switched to bike and PT use where possible, with occasional use of the car.

In any case, I'm not interested in spending vast amounts of money on a heap of metal to get around in.

My thoughts are similar. Sadly, biking to work and for most errands is impossible for me and we have only a very limited bus system here, so I have to rely on a car (2000 Honda Accord) much more than I would like.

Susan-you can rent almost anything with more economy, performance and dignity than your rental.

WE decided that with four of us we need a mini-van on vacation. Somehow we end up toting a lot around. Right now we are in the mountains of West Virginia, and yes the performance could be a bit better. But it is otherwise just fine, lots of space for luggage and long legs and good for the old folks' bad backs.

Nothing. I don't own a car at the moment and must rely on my girlfriend and/or her car to get around. But, I have a couple of bikes.

A '93 Pulsar. Bit of a heap and cost less than my race wheels but it gets me to work and back.

This is what I want.

I can drive but being a young male living in my area of London one year of insurance on a 1.2/1.4l Japanbox is still like 1-.1,5 the car's price.

On an old Merc 190E I was quoted at around £9 grand for a years insurance!

When I can prise my daughter out of it, I have a lovely 2008 Nissan Micra. I get a fair bit of abuse for owning such an 'old lady' car, but it is unbelievably responsive and can leave boy racers at traffic lights (for about 20 yards )

I would not drive if this were the case.

Having experienced a London peak hour traffic jam (and I could of walked outside faster then the car was moving), I don't think I would drive unless I had to.

I drive a 2001 Audi S4. Just a joy to drive. Considering an S6 for the next car.

Audi's make such nice cars. If I were rich and stupid, I would buy an Audi R8.

I don't have the inclination to read thru this thread to see if anybody has called out the OP, but I am calling BS on the VW daily driver and this as the weekend car.
