cheating is cheating. When someone wants to know what is worse, then forget it, go follow tiddlywinks.......

Cheating is a line, how it is crossed is immaterial!

Idealism is wasted upon professional cycling. The worst kind of cheating is not paying the agreed price to the rider who agreed to throw the race for you.

Idealism is wasted upon politics. The worst kind of cheating is not paying the agreed price to the journalist who agreed to help cover up your lying.

Idealism is wasted upon journalism. The worst kind of cheating is not spinning the news to promote your own selfish political agenda.

Idealism is wasted upon business. The worst kind of cheating is not paying the agreed price to the politician who agreed cover up your insider trading.

Idealism is wasted upon propagandists. The worst kind of cheating is changing your talking points to tell the truth.

A bit like being pregnant - you either are or you're not. You can't be a bit pregnant ...

This got me to thinking about some of the classic apologist screed.

So let's see if this fits: Professional cycling is so hard, and the Tour is so difficult, that cyclists should be allowed to crash one another.

Yup, that makes sense.

At least it makes as much sense as saying cyclists should use drugs that can cause further harm to somehow try and avoid the rigors of strenuous exercise.

Murder and petty theft are both crimes, so therefore how you cross the line into criminal activity is immaterial?

If you take the cheating out of professional cycling, it would become something new and unrecognizable.

:D

Awesome, just awesome.

And to think that there have been times when I disagreed with you.

Do you favor different penalties for different methods of cheating, though? Two year ban for a feed zone violation?

I favor lifetime bans for morons that do stupid things like try and throw their water bottles away in the last lap of a crit, only to have it land in the middle of the pack as happened last weekend.

What were they thinking in the first place?

I know I screwed up on the poll being you can just vote once, but it is interesting to me no one said changing equipment was a violation. Seems to me a 30% lighter than UCI allowed bike might have a significant advantage in a hill - maybe as much as doping, not as much as a motor. Removing ONE opponent is not so useful always. Removing many - say using tacks - is much more. Still I thought the equipment would be one of the best ways to beat a group.

1-) Motor in bike: To me the worst. It takes away the very principle of bicycling, which is to propel the bicycle by the rider's physical effort & abilities- Even with PEDs is the person still acting as the engine moving it.

2-) Tainted food: fabricating false evidence so you can go to jail
3-) Crashing an opponent to take him out. this one is like taking matters on your on mobster style. -someone owes you money?- pay him a visit & send him to the nearest hospital:D

PEDs is one of the only things in the list that the 2nd placed rider wouldn't be angry about. Shows the state of the sport.

In terms of dirtiness, PEDs is by no means the worst but in terms of its effect on honest competition in this sport, it is definitiely the worst, so PEDs it is.
