What has happened to the forum????

Page 12 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
It has been a little fraught (probably a lot more so for those on the receiving end), but thanks for the responsiveness to our requests and to other users who have made clear and civil requests to identify needs and hopes.

Definitely getting there...

I still want rid of the placeholder page that appears after you submit a post. Just take me directly to my new post in its thread, rather than telling me post has been submitted and asking where I want to go.

The thraed titles are appearing as I type. Makes so much difference knowing which thread has the post

thanks. are the pic dimensions finalized or are any type revisions planned? I've got 6000 pics on file waiting to post.
at 640x640 some are not worth posting.
keep up the good work

Polls should now look tidier.

The confirmation page after making a post is a baked-in "feature" of phpBB. It's how the forum software attempts to stop multi-posts, though it's not a very elegant solution. It does redirect you automatically, so I've drastically reduced the delay in an attempt to make it whizz past with minimal interruption until we're able to look at taking it out completely. Removing that page isn't supported behaviour in phpBB unfortunately, so it's not a case of just turning it off.

Thanks for letting us know that you are working on it/it will be taken care of :)

edit: Wow, it certainly redirects much, much faster than before, now it isn't much of a problem.

Thanks Pete for the info about the redirect page. Really appreciate the effort you guys have made to fix things and to also explain why things work a certain way.

I'm still straining to read. Tiny font size with the font's design too hard to follow.
This is how it looks on my PC.

Do you have any extensions installed on Chrome, at all?

Firefox is rendering it nicely!!!! Verdana and a large size! Lovely! One thing though - the front page of the Forum which lists all of the areas and titles of threads, the content is still the other font with a smaller size. So the page is a mix of the new font and the original one, with a mix of the sizes. Can that be all one font and size?

All of the hard work going into the forum is very much appreciated.

Could you do the following for me please?

CTRL + SHIFT + DEL
Select the 'Cached images and files' box
Select 'the beginning of time' from the drop down
Click 'Clear browsing data'

Could you then refresh the page and tell me if it's fixed it?

If they are worried about spammers, couldn't they just for starters allow senior members to post links?

If we are going to limit certain privileges to senior members, then I think the post threshold for achieving that status should be lower than 2000 posts, which is where I believe it currently is.

A note about the ads appearing in-between posts. My experience is that it breaks up my thoughts developing while I'm reading through the conversation. The last forum had them at the side. Can you put them there, or at the very bottom of the page? It's a nuisance actually.

Intended behaviour, I'm afraid. Moving it to somewhere where it's easier to ignore it would probably be considered counter productive by "they who make decisions about advertising" (though personally I'm not a fan of it either).

is it possible to make it so that pictures automatically resize to avatar dimensions  I know how to resize it to 90x90 pixels but have no idea how to make a picture 6.00 kB and it's impossible to do on my phone

It's liveable. On the other hand, I really like that the forum fills the screen so it makes up for the ads. :)

Any hope of addressing the issue of past photos being cropped off? I think this is the third or 4th time I've brought this up.

Just to give you an example, the Babes on Bikes thread has over 4,3 million views, which I'm pretty certain is the most viewed thread on the entire forum. If the thread is going to be left for dead, that's a hell of a lot of lost traffic. And traffic like that equals money, regardless of whether it's viewed as "serious" cycling or not.

What an absolutely appalling shower of revoltingness this new look is. Spew.

It has taken till now, with much help from 'Bonny', for me to access the forum. None of the automated mails were sent. None. I even made a new account with a different name and different email address, and never received the activation mail for that either. Bonny had to reset a password at least twice before I was eventually able to log in. What an absolute cluster**** this whole operation has been. What kind of IT dept. can't even ensure that auto mails are actually sent?

Where are the smilies? Is there one that shows spewing? That's what I think of this new look/skin. Absolutely revolting. Bah.
Are you behind that sock puppet chewbakiedefense? You said you made a new account, I never figured you 5 troll,,,.hsha. king boonies just slammed yah. Invite him over to the sand box aka politics thread and we can enlightened him hsha........
