Cyclingnews.com reports that Ryder Hesjdal :

"He did not initially know it but his strong ride in the final time trial had lifted him up to seventh in the overall classification."

Good God, I was standing at the road side with nothing but a newspaper and a stopwatch and I knew that Ryder was smoking Rodriguez in the ITT.

Were the Garmin guys surfing porn via a mobile internet connection? Maybe some encouraging data for Ryder would have been helpful.

It seems to me after a few years of watching the Garmin Team, that they seem to behave mostly like they are out of their league, i.e. that they just don't know how to operate in the big show. The team's most noteworthy achievements in the last two Tours de France seem to me to be 1) Chasing down George Hincapie, for no apparent reason other than keeping a rival American team from getting the Yellow Jersey, and 2) Chasing down the break with Chris Horner in it to protect their guy's tenth place.

I'd really like to see Tyler Farrar sign with a team that knows how to race. This kid has some real ability and I think he could achieve much more with another team.

unfortunately he's (tyler) in the best place for him currently. garmin just need to focus more on sprints. they wont though as they want to do it all with having a GC contender (2 now with ryder and christian)

he can't go to HTC Columbia as they have cav
he can't go to lampre as they have petacchi (unless he retitres soon). italian team.
he can't go to quickstep as boonen is the belgian god for the belgian team

he might be able to go to lotto but it's rumoured they are after griepel, and we've seen how he reacts to playing second fiddle
he might be able to go to sky but they seem far too focused on GC. they didnt even take their best sprinters to the tour

Milram don't seem to have the team needed for a good sprint showing any more

none of the other teams really get involved with the sprints (although i may have missed someone like katusa that has a sprinter with no support)

so yeah, garmin is prob his best option, they just need to learn how to support him better. tbh they dont do a bad job, but when you go against the best sprint team in the world it's hard to look good. HTC Columbia make everyone look like amaters, and when cav is hot noone can get near him
