So, let's recap.

Horner is 10 years older or more than riders on Sky,
Horner had a punctured lung, broken ribs, (concussion?)
Horner was working for Rui Costa until the latter abandoned.

And Horner beats the entire Sky team.

WTF happened to "marginal gains", "plan B", etc., etc.

Don't forget about the bronchitis... ain't nobody got time for that.

Look, Porte and the boys kept forgetting to warm down properly after the stages. It happens.

Hell, Horner has a permanent concussion. He has managed to turn that injury into a positive. I mean a plus. The positive may happen later.

Now, we all know he said he's going to Vuelta to win but wait, there's more:

VN: Say you win the Vuelta. Will you just call it a walk-off home run and retire right there?
CH: No no. I love — that stuff is hilarious. I hear it all the time. F—k that man. You might have another win left in you. I want to win again.

+1 Considering the severity of the injuries he received during his very unfortunate accident which occurred not so long ago, it is indeed a remarkable performance. 17th overall @ + 44' 31''. Has anyone ever performed this well at the Tour after receiving such extensive injuries during the months prior to the beginning of this race. A notable achievement it is. But its quite difficult to fathom how he recovered as well as he did from a punctured lung and four broken ribs and finish this high in the General Classification ahead of all the riders from Team Sky and a long list of fully fit and fully prepared competitors.

That´s what many BBs do for you... Your veins almost explode from the extra blood, and you finish the TdF half dead in the T-20...

Chris: "No, I'll be fine. Just you watch, I'll probably end up in the Top 20 of the Tour de France in a just a few weeks!"

Nurse: "OMG, It's true! You Americans have such a funny sense of humor."

"Oh, could you quickly check my hematocrit? Just want to make sure it's below 50%. I'm not really in any condition to avoid the drug testers at the moment"

Horner: "Imagine. My fanboys defend me under all circumstances. Last year they explained I beat the young riders because they were all tired. Hahaha. And when I win this year they´ll find something else, since I rode the TdF. What fools.... BTW, did you check my Hct?"
Nurse: "Hahaha... Yes I checked. All good, your head won´t explode. It´s down to a safe 64%."

It's cute how everyone here thinks that given the same training, everyone should be at the same level, and nobody is exceptional.

Apply that same thinking to human performance outside of athletics, and an Einstein or Hawking should be impossible.

Right?

Chris: " Do you ever read The Clinic? Those guys are totally on to me, but no one in a position of authority seems to care!"

Nurse: "Of course, we laugh about that every day on our lunch break around here. Foxxy is our favorite! :D"

Ooh, please do share the secret "training" techniques that enabled both Einstein and Hawking to develop their intellect.

I see what you're saying, but I argue in intellect there's not such a clear, well defined way to compete to find out who's actually "smarter" like there is in cycling. There's certainly no such way to find out precisely how much smarter.

Taking that a step further, I'd say that Chris Horner is likely the "smartest" rider in the pro peloton these days. ;)

Right?

Hawking is to Einstein,

what Armstrong is to LeMond.

So let me get this straight old man horner takes it easy in TdF while still on a program of course to give himself enough left in the tank to challenge at the Vuelta??

lol the last person posting in the thread is also called old man - no coincidence there I can assure you! :D

When did he say this? And even if... nobody is perfect.
Horner took it easy or not: "Amazing performance" to finish 17th just a few months after almost crashing to death. There is no other explanation than that he was fueled by BBs (but too less), he tested how much he needs more to prevail at the Vuelta. Now he knows it. That´s why he is so arrogantly confident in his latest BS interviews.
My personal guess is he´ll use at least 6 BBs to make sure he is "winning" and literally piss at all true cycling fans again with a grotesque alien performance.
