Pogacar, Vingegaard and I fail to see who is the other rider. Roglic won GTs in 2024, 2023. You are doing great overestimating Remco but calm down, first he needs to beat a healthy Roglic.

Surely he will not get the results of Pogacar, but I believe that Roglic will also be capable without any setbacks, of being better in the Tour than in the Giro.

First because I think they will plan it this way despite the belief of many that he will go to the Tour to participate for the sponsors and little else. Second because although he has never attempted the Giro-Tour double, there are more than positive signs of Roglic performing quite well in two GT and him being able to mantain his shape for long periods of time and this without planning in advance and improvising a lot due to his usual injuries and falls. Third, because in current cycling the preparations are already demolishing so many myths about things that were impossible until recently, so why not in this case with another super cyclist in a new super team that I consider will greatly improve its preparation from 2024 to 2025.

Furthermore, it is clear that not everyone is Pogacar, but the reality is that even without the current preparations, already recent cyclists like Dumoulin, Froome, Contador, Menchov and I think Sastre and others that Im forgetting have shown that without setbacks in between you can maintain at least a decent level in both and Roglic does not have to be less that them.

If he wins the Giro, I’m not sure he would ride top 5 in TDF. Definitely not podium, he isn’t as good as the other 3. With fatigue of the Giro I can see other riders finish ahead of him too.

Rogla wouldn't start a GT in the first place if he wouldn't go for the win.

You did exactly that and then you decided to not follow them. The same thing as in Christmas calendar thread, on where this year the rules changed and were made in such way GTs were excluded. I guess what we are witnessing here is so called bending of the rules.

So indeed just follow your own rules and acknowledge the fact Rogla decided and announced, the rest didn't just yet and they publicly stated that.

The winner is clear!

P.S. Now hopefully we will see something similar on the roads too in the 2025 season. But that is beyond the scope of this thread as on the road there a different set of rules applies. Road rules.

Exactly. The main problem here was, that as a GT and week long stage winner Rogla was eligible for inclusion in the previous years. How on earth could one know that this year, due to rules being made after the season, there will be total exclusion of any stage racing whatsoever. It was a honest mistake on Rogličes side and the plan for the 2025 season is not to repeat it. So we are good.

Exactly. By the rules of this thread Rogla won. Case closed. Pogi came close second, the other two will came in months behind, on road that translates to minutes. Lets just hope it will look the same on the road too, going in the 2025 season.

By the rules of the thread neither Roglic nor Pogacar did.
Both of them announced just part of their schedule.

But the gap between the Tour and the Vuelta was still the same.
You can make a point about the Vuelta being shorter (although IIRC only flat stages were cut) and the competition there but it still a proof that he can ride back-to-back GT's.

Well he only did it properly once, I’ve never seen him perform as well as Froome, Dumoulin or Pogacar did recently for 2 consecutive GT’s

It's because he's never done 2 full GT's one after another except for 2020.
Using 2020 as example, he should be okay in the Tour. For me the biggest challenge is staying on the bike for 42 days.

Well yeah, the two are pretty much the two classics riders of the big 4. All four will clash at the Tour and the other two are better suited to stage races as warm ups

Remco said he will only race Ardennes to prepare the Tour. Dauphiné and Tour are stage races. There is no chance Remco beat a healthy Pogacar.
So only in Kigali we will have a proper battle.
