if he was to gift anyone a stage i would rather it was to quintana , but he does not come across as the type of guy that is likely to give many gifts .
this guy does not just want to win he wants to dominate and show the world he is a superstar .
Froome gave Spilak a stage at Tour de Romandie. He tried to pull Porte to a stage win at Dauphine but the gap was too large and Porte didn't have the legs. He has also said that he would have given Porte the stage win and overall at Criterium International if he knew that Porte was behind him with a large gap over everyone else. So he is definitely capable of giving a stage.
I don't really see any evidence that Froome wants to dominate. He wants to win the Tour, of course, and that means putting as much time into his rivals as possible. Winning stages is a nice bonus, and will usually happen if the break is caught and he successfully puts time into his rivals.
That said, trying to get Porte a stage win cannot be a priority for Froome. With 2 more hard days of racing to come, he won't be doing this at Alpe d'Huez. Annecy is a possibility if Froome has a large enough lead and, the break gets caught, and none of the other contenders climb better than Porte.
