We get closer to gilberts important decision on which team he will choose for next year. The team will surely be one of the strongest in the classics with gilbert in their team. Which team would gilbert want and be comfortable with. Which team can afford gilbert and fulfill his requirements?

I think and hope Quick Step.

He said before that he would prefer a belgian project. And they have the money so..

Gilbert to vacate the spot left as sole leader at Astana after Vino retires and Kreuziger goes to QuickStep to join the Czech koruna's and Mr. Stybar.

But then after 1-2 years he will regret it because Vino will make a comeback and demand sole leadership of the classics. And then he'll go back to the richest Belgian team.

If Gilbert wants money he'll go Astana. With Vino retiring after this year Astana need a new figurehead, and few seem more appropriate than Gilbert, and they've certainly got more than enough money to throw at him.

Maybe BMC can match or better Astana, money-wise... Maybe that pile of Cancellara-earmarked money they had last year can go to to Gilbert...

In terms of what would be the best 'sporting' choice for him I don't see how he can go wrong with staying put.

I really hope BMC because i like that Cuddles Gilbert partnership, or Astana because it would confirm a strong friendship with VIno and make them into a super-team again.

Wouldnt mind Sky as i want them to have a few stars, though that doesnt have to be Gilbert and maybe Uran Henao will be enough.

Hope its not one of the others.

with Omega or Lotto and they don´t have the cash Gilbert wants 3 years with the team split who get the WT contract ?

I said Cancellara would join BMC, so kind of burnt with that option.

I don't think there's enough money in the Belgian teams (pending sponsorship deals). The only teams who might financially be in a position to sign him are: Sky, Astana, BMC, Katusha and Green Edge.

I'm not sure Sky are interested, same with Katusha. Green Edge would be foolish not to have a go, but seem more obsessed with getting Cav or Goss.

So I say BMC or Astana at this point, not willing to pick one or the other just yet.

He probably will if evans works for him in the other classics like how they did it in their finest moments together. Like in WC2009 and lombardy.

Gilbert didn't gift WC 2009 to Cuddles lol. And he won't. If Gilbert has the legs he'll always go for the win. It's in his nature, and it's against his nature to give gifts. Working for someone doesn't mean gifting something away. He would work for Cuddles in GTs and perhaps stage races, but no way should Cuddles ever expect a gift from him. Will never happen.

I would not. Seems like such an unpleasant team. +You also have that annoying Vino wanting to be facebook friends with Gilbert all the time.

Sky = Money + Good Domestiques - Doesn't really know anybody there well ( I think )

BMC = Money + Good Domestiques + Few Good Friends

Astana = MOney + Great Domestiques + Vino + Undisputable Ardennes classics Leader

Between BMC or Astana. The Pay might decide.

unpleasant(if you saw so) but a much better team then bmc and a team that is used to deliver good results. only problem would be flanders where astana doesn't really feature at all. but if they could get a couple of good domestiques i think it would be a much better option.

Astana haven't been doing so well this year without Contador...

Saxobank in the mean time is probably doing better than last year even if their team is 10 times weaker. I wonder why.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say Katusha because I think it's plausible and noone else is mentioning them.
