He is friends with them? Just because the Schlecks talk dumb to the media and are hated by the majority of passionate cycling fans doesn't mean Fabian can't like them. Why else would Fabian kill himself TDF after TDF to try and help Andy win, if he were on other teams he could be going for stage wins but he wants to help them win the Tour.

If memory serves me well, It was the Schleck Bros. & Cancellara together forming the new team along with Nygaard-"behind Riis's back"-The main obstacle was that Cancellara had a year left in his contract & Riis knowing the plot, wanted him to honor it-then when Contador made the switch, it was the perfect scape goat for Fabio to say the team will no longer be suitable to his own ambitions & the arrival of the Spaniard meant the team was going to be built "exclusively around him" At the end- Fabio "paid his way out of the contract" with the help of some of the Sponsors behind Leopard......

Clearly QS have by far and away the best classics team, but that's because they have the one ingredient that Sky do not have: a fast classics finisher.

Sky would be the perfect fit with Fab, from a tactical point of view.

They have probably the only classics team that can all ride together on the front for long distances, while keeping the pace high enough to prevent other teams from coming round them.

That is the perfect platform for the 'one-man off the front' tactics which have worked best for Fab over the years.

Bosen Hagen is not THAT shabby.

He doesn't have the engine yet for longer races. Cance would definitely help him imo improve as classics rider. EBH should be great in 2 years imo.

I thought the idea was to find a team that would help Fabian win again and not to find the team where he can help others to be better riders in future.

He has helped others enough.

However, from this point of view his alliance with Sagan would be much better than an alliance with EBH. Don´t want to repeat myself though.

Agree with Lotto actually. The combination of him and Greipel would be formidable in sprint stages. In the classics they could put Roelandts or Greipel up the road to bridge to, or have them get a free ride in a chase group. That way if he didn't get away solo he'd have a teammate there with a good sprint, or otherwise his break companions would have to ride to keep the fast Lotto guys away. It wouldd suck for Bak though.

I didn't really take that into account, as I don't know what teams have money or not. Probably the teams that can afford him don't need him. Seeing him on Sky e.g. would somehow just be the most boring thing everzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

I tend to agree; tactically, it would work, but someone like Bradley Wiggins seems to me the polar opposite of Cancellara in riding style, personality, everything; it would be so weird seeing them on the same team.

I just realized no one mentioned Garmin. Ultimate TTT squad? He would have a good ally in Farrar. Not sure about the $$$$$ though.

Teams that can afford him for sure, I think, are BMC, Katusha, Astana and Sky. Maybe others.

After reading this thread, I think Sky is the most realistic option for him to move to. Saxo just don't have the money at all, especially if they re-sign Contador. Quickstep won't because they have Boonen, Lotto would be good, but probably can't afford him, BMC are too top-heavy already without another star (unless Thor, Ballan or Gilbert were to leave), Astana will be short of a star at the end of the season, but the entire point of that team was to provide a platform for a Kazakh superstar, so not sure there.

Greenedge just don't seem right to me, Liquigas would be great if they could find the money, I think Canc and Sagan would be lethal together. But overall, Sky is a team with a fantastic classics squad, but Flecha, as a leader, is somewhat on the wane, and lacks maybe that killer edge.

Yeah I considered Garmin, it's not a bad shout. What I was saying about the advantage of having teammates with a sprint goes for Farrar/Haussler as well as Greipel/Roelandts. They could offer compotent support for the classics but they don't have any solid potential winners.

Sky are perfect team for Cancellara. Strong enough, and with great domestiques. Maybe Cance wont go here this year, but very possible in 2014. Flecha/Hayman will be old but then, and Cance will have Thomas as super domestique. Similar to Boonen/Chava thing I think. Sky was interested in him 2 years ago, they might be interested even more now.
