Given the current circumstances, i would think so too. We'll never know how it would have panned out without the mechanical. But like i said, other riders can make the same argument.

The chances of Menchov and Nibali should be revealed at the end of the TT. To me VDB has looked better than both of them but he had some bad luck. Everyone seems to think that Froome, Wiggins and Evans will do good TTs. The battle for third place should go down to the final TT so even if quite a lot of time is lost in the first TT to Wiggins and Evans, the mountain stages in the third week could get interesting. A lot can happen yet even though a pattern is already emerging on the first climbs.

Horner:
"I was riding beside Frank when he punctured and I asked him if he wanted my wheel, but he said no, he would wait for the mechanic, which, to be honest, is often the best thing to do – at least the mechanic knows how to , put chain on, put a wheel in quickly and how to do the wheel skewer up properly," laughed Horner

As demonstrated by the Rabo (?) mechanic, giving Kruijswijk (?) a new wheel last week. lol

Kruijswijk stated: 'I wouldn't have done it any faster myself, so there was no point in losing my temper.' Smart guy, else it probably only took longer.

It was another lousy day for Leipheimer. I don't know what's with him, but Omega is screwed. Levi trails Chavanel slightly in the GC now. The team has no sprinters, no young riders, and a team total of zero points in the mountains. Team motto: "At least we're not Garmin!"

Levi's done. Motivation is just not there anymore. A shame - this is a course that would've favored him, say, five years ago.

It's not over.

Cadel's interview after stage 9
"I was surprised how Sky fell apart on the last climb yesterday but then also surprised that they have first and second in the time trial today, that was really exceptional," he said. "There's a lot more racing to go before Paris."

Kind of rhymes with my sig below VVV :D

I sure hope it's not over, otherwise this will be a very boring Tour. There are still lots of mountain passes, so the only way for Cadel to win is to exploit Sky's weaknesses in mountains. It's pretty clear Cadel can't beat Wiggo in TT, so he's gotta beat him in the mountains.

Tejay is in a great GC situation, so BMC can use him to keep attacking in the mountains to make Sky chase him. Hopefully enough to break down the Sky train, so Cadel can attack.

Wiggo, being a wheelsucker, won't go on alone most of the time, so his team becomes his liability. Break the Sky train and Wiggo will hopefully falter in the mountains. But BMC can't waste any time, they have start in Stage 10.

Top 10 today:

Wiggins
Froome
Nibali
Vdb
Zubeldia
Van Garderen
Evans
Brajkovic
Rolland
Pinot

means just 4/10 of the survey, quite a surprise, no? I think it was very hard to imagine at least Zubeldia, Van Garderen and Pinot here, but also Brajkovic it's kind of surprising

Assuming Froome will still be 2:05 down from Wiggins at the time trial, could Froome win the tour by having a great TT and Wiggins only having an average one?

Is 2:05 too much for this TT?
