So if you are populated by prisoners of mother England, why do you call us it?

I'm afraid your second paragraph is incoherant.

I mean this in the nicest way possible. When you no longer need all your fingers and toes to apply simple arithmetic, get back to me. When your IQ hits the basal median, around the triple figure margin, again, please get back to me. Till then, don't waste my time. I explained quite clearly where 'POME' came from. It was from Englishmen hating on Englishmen. Australia as I stated, is a 'multicultural nation' of many skin colours, languages and ethnic diversity arranged together in a united symbolic nationalistic attitude and formality. Simply put, we are Australain, be it you were born here or YOU BECAME Australian. It doesn't bloody matter. Thus by BRANDING all Australians with a narrow minded label of 'CONVICTS' what you are doing is showing your historic ignorance, idiocy and biggotry. Something many thought the UK had surpassed. Perhaps I should be ashamed that my ancestors came from there? Or maybe it would be more appropriate to call out the goof balls who don't remember or know this? Don't reply...we already know where you'll go

Every post you've done on this thread and the last one Enoculator made, shows me you lack the fundamentals to not fall into FANBOY territory. Oh and before anyone calls me a FANBOY. Check the voting. See the bottom vote...Valverde. I voted for him. Anything but a 'fanboi'. Ask ACF94 who use to be so critical of Evans? Go on...the older posters here know this. They know who I really want to win. It isn't my countryman. He's about number 3-4 on my list. I like many here want a deserving champ, not a chump who gets carried to a win. Once again I have faith that will not transpire.

Menchov for a tour podium was probably the easiest bet ever. He even had higher odds than Nibali, Gesink and Vdb2  lol

In fact, almost NO ONE spoke about him. Almost NO ONE.

And most of those who did, claimed he was too old, wasn´t classy enough, or whatever.

Guys, hold you horses, still 3 weeks to go.

Big fail on the part of the cycling pundits, of course. You look at this course, and you think: wow, that's pretty suited to Menchov.

Unfortunately, the memory of sports journalists only goes back a few months. He has indeed been out of the picture for a while.

its not memory but ignorance . Menchov doesnt speak English. He hasnt won the Tour. pfff no chance.

And because he doesnt speak English and hasnt won the Tour, they dont pay any attention to him when he does well (like say podium the tour de France above all their favourites:rolleyes:) that they dont make any mental note of him when he does appear.

The ES commentators described Menchov 2010 as " we didnt see him at all for 3 weeks until we saw him on the podium in Paris", even though he finished in the very select groups on Morzine and Mende, attacked everyone to come 2nd on Ax3, was with Contador and Samu on Port de Bailes, they were all too busy talking about Wiggins Evans and Armstrong fighting it out for 23rd place to give a care to who was with Contador and Schleck on those days.
And those are the most knowledgable commentators in the anglophone cycling word. Most of them wont believe you if you tell them Menchov has podiumed the Tour.

Theyll call your bluff and know you are making it up.

You talking about this kind of a welcoming?

Perhaps. I don't know about you, every Brit I've met in person has been rather pleasant and quite easy for me to get along with. Then again, they WILLINGLY came to Australia on holidays. I've only ever met the hostility online. I've stated it before, mostly the UK vs Aussie sentiment is sporting rivalry drawing from our LONG and very intense rivalry on the sporting field. Some things though...draw the line. I don't care about people slinging the "Convict" term per se, I know where my lineage falls, far from that, but many don't. It's a generic slur, it's wrong and innaccurate.

Oh and if you didn't know, if I mentioned my full name, heck if they looked at me, they wouldn't bat an eye lid. I can fake many UK accents with my eyes shut. Haven't you seen all those Aussie actors? Average Aussie and average Brit are very alike, just some idiots forget what is acceptable in sporting sledging. And yes, Aussies did start the sledging...heck we are masters of it. But class is a British term and synonymous with British regalitry...something the world shouldn't forget. Heck something cycling needs more of. Nobility. I hope to see some on the road the next 3 weeks

I lived in Aus for a few years, it's the most racist country I have ever spent time in, it might be ethnically diverse but I wouldn't call it successfully multicultural.

I'm with you on most of what you have been posting but can you please drop the UK and British references. Unless I'm mistaken it's the arrogant/racist English posters on here you have a problem with and I don't like to be tarred with that brush.

For a few years eh, so you are obviously qualified to determine how ethically diverse the whole country is. Were you staying with fellow country men by the way?

Are you back in Redhill now?

It's still pretty bad although it's true and is a very sensitive issue, its like calling a black a N****.

no it's not, don't talk nonsense. I don't think anyone really cares about being called a convict. Garlic ho just over-reacted. Plus it's true.

The whole winners/losers things is laughable. Arguably Wiggins is a winner

But there's no real losers with these differences. Maybe F. Schleck and Cobo. But the rest, nah

Yeh I expected pretty much all that happened, apart from menchov (don't get me wrong I had hope he good be a that here, but prologues were never his best thing) that is; impressive prologue that. The guy is dangerous when on song.

Menchov has always been underrated, despite being one of the best GT riders of this generation.

depends where you live. For example I know QLD is known for still being racist, but not really Melbourne, that just isn't true.

You have racist people in every country. Saying Australia is the most racist country is silly. What people classify as 'racist' is often not actually racist.

btw Cadel Evans will win the Tour de France

ozzie ozzie ozzie! oi! oi! oi!

Where in this thread was it said that Australia was the most racist country? In fact, Galic Ho was claiming that it was an example of racial harmony. Is that right? Course not. You acknowledge that Australia has it's racists like everyone else.

And often what people classify as not racist actually is racist. I mean what racist ever admits they're such? '"I'm not racist" - it's generally an easy identifier.

Nice quote from Laurens ten Dam in the regional newspaper today:

"You can win the Tour de France by visiting Wiggin's hotelroom, and then filling his minibar!":D

Very comfortable show on the climb for Wiggins, especially given it doesn't suit him.

A stronger performance, relative to expected ability, than the prologue.

Indeed but after what he showed in PN on Mendee it was too be expected, his ability on any terrain hie has been challenged with this year he has handled with ease and this is not any different, of course that is my main reasoning behind him doing well in the high mountains.

after the initial short steepness it wasn't that steep, bordering false flat; would be very bad if he was anything less here.

None of it is incoherent but nearly everybody who becomes an apologist for petty racism is so, I agree with nearly everything that Gallic Ho says but he left out the misfortune of the country's original inhabitants, may pop up later. With regards to taking on the racist mega mouths that inhibit the world, when I arrived I was 6 foot three and eleven stone, now I'm 14 solid and only ever hear anything derogatory from people in fast moving cars. I found it very interesting that all my racist "mates" were busy trying to bury their own sad lives by attacking others who they thought would not dare defend themselves, they always got an awful fright. First time I stood up for myself it was, "what's black and blue and floats down the Thames?", "donno mate", "an English man telling (insert country) jokes". This fella picked on me relentlessly until that moment, he never said another word to me!!

I can't even remember what the thread was supposed to be about, I'll edit in and answer later, but I think the answer might either be Cadel Evans or not as case need be!!

I've read the rest of the thread and it is fairly obvious that we have a good supply of racists on here, the mental hospital jibe, the indifference, the attempts to rile an individual who has been wronged via the ignorance of others and the sheer willingness to try and ignore the problem in our midst, hoping it might go away. Well a friend of mine escaped London to his home city, formerly second city of the empire, he referred to London as an open prison, so it might be that Gallic Ho has found paradise and
we are left suffer the consequences of historical destiny!!
