Is that any different to when ligett said the 5 contenders for the tour were the schleck brothers vdb Evans and richie porte ?

Richie Porte????!?!?!
OMG!!!!!

As for frank, who in gods name has he go to bed with to get this world beater treatment from.clueless anglo cycling "journalists". Remember when velonews wrote last year about Paris nice, the tt heavy one, that frank could easily win the race if he bothered.

Yeah though it was.perhaps not.as ridiculous as i made it out to be as he did include contador and basso rather than frank and vdb.

PL: I would go for Evans; A. Schleck; Contador; Porte; Basso. Hey, but who knows, that’s why we love the Tour

No worries though. Turns out he made a made a big fool.of himself 2 qs earlier when he said cav could challenge cancellara in pr.

Well d0h, both Hesjedal and Cobo won the last GT they competed in, Gesink was 40th or something. And broke his leg in between.
You may want to breath out of your own bubble little boy ;)

On another note, what's with dutchies and love-hate relationships with their own athletes? Does anybody understand this aberration?

How is this guy even able to keep his job with his severe lack of cycling knowledge:rolleyes:
Mentioning cav and porte is just naive to say the least.

Dutch are very direct. When something is good, its good. When it's bad, they can't do a thing right. Not only the Dutch though. I read a lot of Belgian articles and they are the same towards their athletes.

When Boonen won everything he was a half-god and some believed he could do even more (like winning LBL etc). And when he was doing bad they called him over the hill and not able to compete with the new generation etc etc. And this year he is a god again :)

I don't know if it's only a Dutch/Belgian thing. I believe Americans are the same

I don't have a love-hate relationship with Dutch athletes, I just don't like opportunism. "Look, Gesink fails utterly in the Ardennes, he'll be nowhere in July!" "Look, Gesink wins a race with hardly any Tour candidates, he'll be great in July!"

I'm always to be found somewhere in between. I don't think Gesink will do particularly bad in the Tour, I just don't consider him a favourite for the top-5.

No, its unconditional love. They love gesink so much they wake up every day paralyzed with fear that he will underperform. that's why they post these low expectations. just look at the Calif thread with 200m to go on baldy as gesink passes atapuma who is going backwards and dt posts that gesink has lost it.

even the youngest , usually so fair minded packs an aggressive bite if you speak out of.turn on the condor of varseveld
