A challenger for the title of Lanterne Rouge?

With the way Wiggins is talking and Gesink announcing his bid for Pink, I think this poll is kind of silly now.

I or someone else will make a new poll when dust settle down a little bit, there is just too much going on right now. Nobody is for sure who is going to ride the GIRO maybe except Nibali and Hesjedal

he was undertrained like every rider of the team was. he had it worst though. he is a talent not much less of duarte, also as a youngster in colombia and I expect him to be well again in 2013. anyway they could split the team quite easily by sending chaves and atapuma to the giro and duarte and suarez to the tour for instance. also all of their other riders are pretty good too, not greenedge or argos climbers. so they should be able to animate as well, although winning might be harder. should they do bith gt's they will add some extra rider in june from their ct team that is literally loaded with talent in 2013.

Thanks i forgot about Suarez. I think riders like Chaves and Atapuma would be great at the Giro but i still think it would be better they just went to the TDF.

Weening and Clarke (maybe even Meyer) could get a medium mountain stage. Goss if he rides would definetly get 1 win. Argos will probably send Kittel (as Degenkolb would have done the Classics ). I do however acknowledge that OGE and Argos are not great climbers but they should both be able to get stages there.

Happy that Gesink could be going.

Vincenzo Nibali, Joaquin Rodriguez, Robert Gesink, Sammy Sanchez, Ryder Hesjedal, Ivan Basso, Michele Scarponi, Domenico Pozzovivo, Franco Pellizotti, plus whichever Colombians show up. Gotta admit, the Giro fields is looking strong, should be a great race! :D

Also really glad the management of Blanco-Bank finally wised up and decided to send their best GC guy to a race where he could actually do well in.
An itt specialist, capable of fighting for the GC, is lacking.
A fantastic long tt will be wasted, and the race will come down to battle in the mountains.
I have nothing against climbers' showdown, but with a rider who can put 4-5 minutes on climbers in that tt Giro would be spectacular.

Still better in the Tour than Kruijswijk, both crashed and Jani did much better. Some experts(read it in some magazine) were saying Kruijswijk was still recovering from Giro-Vuelta in 2011 this year. Rabobank has really pushed this guy to his limits.
This could very well be the case, in his first two years as a pro he rode three GTs which is indeed a bit much. Nonetheless it contradicts your other point about him being nothing more than a super dom. After all he got 8th in his 2nd GT, that's similar to Talansky, for instance.

The way Gesink rode in the last Vuelta, I don't think that level would have been out of reach for a good Kruijswijk.

That is understandable to not make one now. Let the dust settle on how is and is not actually competing in the Giro before another poll is formed.

Gesink's and Froome's Vuelta were pretty much determined by their Tour performances. Froome's form was getting worse in the last two weeks of the Vuelta, Gesink in the last. They both dropped hard on the Bola for instance. Kruijswijk can certainly match this level, however I doubt if he could have done the same under similar circumstances. Still it's probably better to save the conclusions for the actual race.

be afraid, be very afraid!!!! lo squalo saying he just had the best results in his career on the winter tests.

although i don't really know what the tests are, it only says he did 340w at 68kg on a climb.

Than means 5W/kg and about 3kgs overweight, it also depends on how he trained so far and type of training.
I don't know how it compares to others, but I don't think I can match it. :p

Who will get the 4 GIRO wildcards: Qhubeka, Katusha, Farnese, Europcar, Colnago, Netapp or IAM?

Maybe Katusha will be re-instated in the world tour.

There are only 3 wildcards left: Androni automatically received one as "Italian champions".

Farnese will not be left out. They were great last year, for a wildcard team.

Pff, who needs TTer's, all they do is ruin the race. Like the 2012 Tour. :p

Androni, Vini-Fantini, Colombia, and Katusha (should Purito choose to stay with the team). If Purito doesn't choose to stay than Colnago instead.
