Could be wide open for this after today.

Martin still looks out of form after his tour injury. Cancellara looks sure to be nursing an injury now. Wiggo looked knakered after taking huge turns on the front today.

Wouldn't be suprised to see Chavanel or Phinney on the podium.

Perhaps, but I am using my brain instead of my heart. Phinney on top form could do really well.

Phinney will have a chance.Wiggins and Froome looked more tired than they did at the tour, Cancellara and Martin who knows,

Wiggins will win. I dont read much into him being tired today, a lot of people were. He has 3 days to recover and at the TDf he had no problem destroying the tt after going into red the day before.

Canc out or substantially weakened. Martin weakened. the other guys are not as good as Wiggins.

Except this guy

VINOKOUROV Alexandre Kazahkstan
:D

But seriously, I have it on good authority that this man will beat Wiggo

Hard to say where Wiggins will be. His legs were absolutely wasted by the end of the race; probably worked harder today than he did in the entire Tour. However, he has time to rest and the parcours plays very favorable to him, plus the motivation to take gold will be stronger than ever. I'd still put money on him. As for Cancellara, his season is over.

The US hope is Van Garderen over Phinney, but neither is too likely to medal. I'm holding out hope foe Cance.

Wiggins should easily take this barring some kind of mechanical. I think US has a good chance for a medal with Phinney and TVJG. Maybe they could get 2 medals.

Yes with Cancellara wounded and Martin not back to his best yet, it looks that way. Rogers or Porte will probably do well as will the Americans. Hard to see Chavanel or Sanchez beating Wiggins either. One of the Americans should get a medal I think.

Tejay is not doing the ITT. USA only has one spot, as oppose to great cycling nations such as Denmark and Kazahkstan

Phinney could certainly be in for a medal. It'll be interesting though. Sanchez, Chavanel and Westra could all pull a good TT.

Anybody knows about EBH's shape?

Edit: Oh, and Evans is racing instead of Porte.

Not sure what form Martin is in, but he'll probably need to be in top shape to beat Wiggins, which he probably isn't.

Alas, with Canc crashing I really can't see passed Wiggo.

One guy who deserves it would be Canc, he was terribly unlucky this season, I have no doubts he would have won yesterday... yet with that injury, it doesnt look very likely that he will have a shot

Easily? No way. He worked his a** of yesterday and could pay for it a bit.
Sure Martin's build up hasn't been perfect, but I wouldn't underestimate him. The way he rode last year in the World Championship says that his maximum capacity is above Wiggos. He will give Wiggo a fight, I'm certain of it. So will Canc, even if he is not 100%. Phinney could also be dangerous.

The USA only has one spot. It was between Phinney and Zabriskie until Dave Z. withdrew himself.

How did the US only get 1 spot? We have a pretty good history on the ITT over the last few Olympics. But yeah the other sites I looked at confirmed that. We have two bronzes, a silver, and a DSQed Gold over the last 3 Games.

USA ****ed up their 2nd ITT spot by riding bad at the World CH ITT last year
Where for example the Netherlands finished top 10 with Westra earning a 2nd spot.

Olympics is always a bit nuts. Now we have Olympic ITT race without Porte, Bobridge, Tejay, Talansky, Tuft, etc. Bobridge and Porte were 5th and 6th last year in WC ITT, aussies are now putting Rogers and Evans on the start line, Canada Hesjedal instead of Tuft, etc. tanks to stupid rules. Funny stuff.

Bradly showed himself to be decisively superior at the Tour. It remains to be seen if that translates into a one day event.

However, Wiggins is certainly in the better psychological position and, perhaps (especially after the crash), physical. And he might, given the results, define a new standard.
