I don't usually root for the USA, but I'll be more than happy if Phinney manages to pull off a surprise.

Also it would be nice to see Van Garderen here as well. The fact the U.S. has only one slot shows up the flaw of the Worlds only qualifying. The selection sould be based on more that one race.

That said, I think Phinney is coming into form and I am hoping others are fading. This is a though one to call.

Care to translate the bottom line?

This?
Cancellara gewann 2008 im Zeitfahren Gold und ist am Schweizer Nationalfeiertag ab 15 Uhr Titelverteidiger.

something like:
Cancellera won the 2008 ITT gold and is the defender of the title on the Swiss National Day at 3 pm/15:00.

I think qualification is according to last years performance, I might be wrong though

This is how they decide how many riders per country

Oh I now see that 1 extra guy can qualify according to last years Worlds, you are right about that

So, Cancellara is on for Wednesday. Thank God!

My top 5:

1. Cancellara
2. Wiggins
3. Martin
4. Chavanel
5. Phinney

Yeah, that's right, I believe Froome will be outside top 5.

If I am right.. Wiggles, Froome, etc.. rode until exaustion last Saturday.. How much this will impact in their performance in the Time trial?! Are they Human? Because if they are... I will not expect a great show from the GB guys...

Gold: Wiggins
Silver: Froome/Martin
Bronze: Cancellara

Third is up for grabs, but I think Cancellara is the likely third spot baring disaster. Chavanel would be great to see on the podium.

Could be a Team GB lockout, but not likely.

so 2nd will be Froome or Martin, but whoever doesn't make it won't get 3rd.

So how do they decide who goes when? World Championship results or something? Seems right to me that Martin should get to go last as he currently has the rainbow bands.

Wiggins. Unless he's too burnt out from the road race, he should win. He's been virtually untouchable in ITTs this season.

Spartacus is hurting. He'll give it a go but that's going to make it all the more difficult.

The defending champion should have the right to start last.

According to the Olympic Web site Van Garderen will be in the ITT. He'll certainly have a chance to medal.

I wonder how hurt Cancellara is and who knows with Martin.

I think Wiggins is the smart money to win.

Froome should figure in there as well.

44k TT which means likely the winner will be around 53-54

The Olympic website has Tejay and Taylor both riding the event

Also this website seems to be updated (Evans withdrawal) and has the two riding

It must be a mistake? The big deal was that the US only had one TT spot up for grabs and that it was going to end up being political. Well, we all know how that ended but Phinney was last man standing....

We really need a poll.

Taylor Phinney, on the basis that he'll be the freshest. I'm disappointed with Evans withdrawal, Australia could have put their U23 World TT Champion Luke Durbridge in his spot. Durbridge beat Wiggins in the 2012 Dauphine opening prologue. Oh and he's the current Australian Time Trial Champion as well.....I dont understand why he wasnt included in the squad.

I don't think recovery from the road race will be much of an issue - except for Cancellara who got hurt of course. Recovery from the Tour is another matter though and a lot of their bodies and minds must be so beaten up.

Phinney and Pinotti are both good at peaking for an event and should be good here.

It's a shame we don't get Martin, Cancellara and Wiggins all in top form battling it out.

Maybe if he prints it out and shows up to the race...

He's certainly capable in this event but it would be pretty strange for him to be added in.

The rules are that everybody in the TT has to participate in the road race. I don't think Durbridge has ever done a race that long and Australia had lots of people to choose from who have proven effective over that distance. If they'd known Evans couldn't ride then I think they would have selected Porte for the other TT spot.
