Why is Lance Still Racing?

I mean, I know why; because he thinks he's completely above any and all authority. Also, since he's a pretty good at reading people (like most sociopaths), he realizes that USADA doesn't want to be seen as being any more "vindictive" than he's portrayed them to be. When Tyler Hamilton did some unsanctioned races, USADA and USAC threatened to sanction any license holders who showed up to a race in which he was participating (yes, they can do that). Why does the preferential treatment still continue? Why is still positioning himself to poison the next generation?

And by the Keegan Swirbel, time to grow up. Santa doesn't exist, either.

He has been relegated to doing fringe events. With his constant need for attention, I would not be surprised to see him do something like the Tour Divide. Of course, he would cheat with outside support. He cannot seem to help himself.

My guess is that Vail race was an independent promotor and therefore not afficiliated with USAC. I started racing in CO and did all the MTB races on the front range years ago and that race did not exist 6 or 7 years ago. So I'm guessing independant promotor who wouldn't/couldn't say no to Lance, plus Lance has a house up there and I'm sure has the local populace worshipping him.

It's annoying, but what's really going to **** me off is if he actually gets away with doing a USAC sanctioned race. I would have to think WADA/USADA will come down hard on them if that happens, so I second thought it might be fun to see that happen!

I am not 100% but in my opinion this race is about the equivalent of a fun run put on by a local grocery store or shop owner. It is not even your local running clubs 5k age group race. Not so much to be worked up about YET.
What will come next is him doing a Triathlon which will come with a mere matter of time,,,, and then to see this place grind in agony over it will be something.
To the bolded that is why USADA has been out doing this from the beginning. Doing it for the kids.

The guy will be able to do non-WADA affilliated stuff all year long. My estimation is we'll see him back at Leadville MTB race where I hear a sanctioned doper just won the event. The owner of the event has made it clear that Wonderboy's win stays despite the USADA evidence of blood manipulation during that time.

There is some money in these events, so it's not as fringe as The Clinic would probably like. If I were a promoter I'd consider paying that freak show to come because it gets my race in mainstream media.

Two things I have great confidence in:
1. Appearance money from these events is not going to offset his legal bills.
2. Wonderboy is going to do more harm to his legacy because he can't help himself.

Finally, all event promoters are independent. As the promoter you choose between USAC sanctioning in exchange for the possibility of more riders or getting event insurance yourself.

Armstrong should be restricted to riding his bike in his backyard. Everytime he makes public appearance, everytime he talks to a young athlete, he's a danger to the future generations. USADA should pose a condition that Armstrong is banned from speaking to any aspiring cyclist who is trying to make it to the big league.
