But in all seriousness. 2010 is the new era is it not? Even so, Teide appears to have been a doping safe haven then. Uncomfortably close to 2012 if you ask me.

Now I may be wrong but I seem to recall the hogs dots failing to connect on this.
Ferrari told Bertagnolii not to go to Tenerife, Oct/Nov 2010.
He wasn't going near the place as it was not safe and being watched by the police.
According to Leonardo's affidavit, that is.

Yes, I was making light of the situation that fans of Sky used the alleged words of Ferrari to show they are clean...

"We are clean because Ferrari said so..." LOL!

Oxymoron would be a good place to start...

I think of you as a little ray of sunshine, always brightening up the daily gloom, here.:)

Anyhow, it does seem that Ferrari had no place to hide from latish 2010 through the first half of 2011, thanks to Jeff and co.

CIRC report

'Riders deliberately went to altitude not for training benefits but to explain any jump in values.'

No way:rolleyes:

Talk about stating the effing obvious.

banning altitude training is not possible, so I guess the circus will keep going up and down the mountains. I'm ok with that, you can't forbid travelling where they want.

No problem with Tenerife, but the lack of OOC testing is not on.

Yes.

But good to have it confirmed. Finally.

That and altitude tents.

We have been proven right to be cynical. On both counts.

Time to update the Glossary. Training in Tenerife = permitted doping while on vacation.

USPS/Disco, Sky, Astana, Katusha, Movistar, Lotto, Belkin, Tinkoff Saxo, etc. Busted.

You have to love the multiple trips by these various teams, timed perfectly for pre-race doping cycles, ahead of the Tour, the Giro, the Classics...

"...Astana responded and confirmed that they had organised three camps in Tenerife during the season. Dates were not provided but the camps were listed as the "Ardennes Camp", "Giro Camp" and "Tour Camp." No tests were carried out by the UCI at any point. ...

...Biological passport expert Michael Ashenden previously raised the issue over gaps in testing data"

this should go straight to TOP10 in the "best excuses" thread, somewhere at the level of "phantom twin", "only intended to dope", or "these pills are for mother-in-law"

Quintana will return to Colombia after the Tour de Romandie for a lengthy spell of altitude training, before travelling to Europe in time for the Route du Sud.

Why not Tenerife? Mt Teide must not be remote enough for the dosages at play here :p

And why not? Spain is a cheep place, Teide is hight and it has flat in the hight, long climbs, good roads, hotels, a very good weather all the year,,, it is a quite place as well.

Wich place near Europe is better to train in altitude?

I hope the place is crawling with the UCI's anti-doping operatives, with sleeper agents in every hotel and pharmacy. It would be embarrassing if the Dawg had to once again lament their absence via Twitter

The legitimate reasons for Tenerife training have been covered ad nauseum in this thread fella and it's a perfectly legitimate place it train. In fact, it's possibly one of the best places in the world to train. It is also an extremely easy place for OOC testing to take place. My road club go to Mallorca, so there's another option, but it's no where near as good an option as Tenerife.

Mallorca is more expensive, is at the sea level, and it is not so quite and with so good weather, authough is good. Tenerife is beter than Etna, better than Sierra Nevada and clearly better than Navacerrada... just Hawai is similar, that is far away.

It has been proven that a few weeks at altitude does nothing for performance. It is a smokescreen for blood doping.

And hawaii is full of americans that would shoot cyclists or just run them over !!!
