There won't be any competition if Froome is as strong as he was last year. Froome won't wait for Wiggo again having been told he will be Tour leader.

Wow. What a bold prediction. A team leader won't wait for his domestique. Never thought I'd see the day. Your input to the cycling discussions here is invaluable.

Problem is that Froome rode TA and Romandie in driving rain.

Pinot rode Romandie and attacked in the rain.

Contador rode in the rain.

Nibali won TA in the rain.

They are ready for for whatever comes.

Wiggins avoided all of that this season. The same issue occurred to the classics team. They placed way too much emphasises on the Tenerifie sessions. Thomas was a little upset with the lack of racing and it shows in the performances.

Controlled environments on the track and in swimming may work but not on the road.

and what does that have to do with my post?

Just responding to peoples comments about Wiggins going to the Tour to mess up Froome's plans when the truth is he wont won't get near Froome. Hope that helps you :D

I guess what this means is... Froome to win the Tour, Wiggins to podium while chewing a wasp, Schleck to finish 2nd, and Eloy Teruel to shock everybody with a 4th place.

When he broke his collar bone and crashed in 2011 it was on a dry, flat road.

True, I mixed it up with the Vino crash. Nevertheless, the 2012 Tour showed that hé isnt a good descender, and that was even in dry conditions. I dont get why ppl try to blow his illness so much out of proportions to even argue it affected his balance and hence it was sickness that made him terrible ar descending. Thats just so out of this world. Yes, he lost time due to illness the last 2 days hé was in the race but no hé wasnt sick from Day 1 and no sickness didnt make him descent like a girl. I know hé is a big hero for a lot of ppl here but ffs dont make that farfetched excuses on behalf of one's hero. Just admit hé lost time fair and square cos hé is a below average descender who becomes terrible when u add rain

Mentally he hasnt been right this Giro, that has been obvious. No idea what has caused it, maybe lack of racing miles, maybe loss of confidence due to being hit by a car over the winter. It could be anything. He is not a bad descender though, not a good one either, just average like 90% of the rest of the peleton.

I don't agree with 2012 showing Wiggins as a poor descender, I can't remember him being put under much pressure at any point.

I do agree that his illness didn't cost him the race, there is no way Wiggo would have won anyway with his terrible descending. It's just a shame the illness has cost him a chance to fight for a podium.

I don't understand where the Knight showed in the past he's a poor descender.
He's not a great descender, no Arroyo, Nibali, Cancellara or Sagan, that's for sure, but he's also no Alex Zulle come on! A somehow average, even good descender, yeah definitely.

He attacked downhill in Catalunya FFS?

And by the way, he would've never ever won the Tour 2012 (or even the Romandie, the Dauphine, or the Paris-Nice) descending like he did in this Giro. I'm not buying this ****.

You must be referring to his mental illness, the one that resulted in him deciding not to try to hard in this race so he could, in fact, target le Tour.

Wiggo is so full of sh!t it's not even funny. Excuses excuses excuses. How it all unravels.

If the tap by the car impacted him like this, then he is extremely mentally fragile. Don't ever call him fat, or he'll cry.

He's won in every condition. Some pros go their whole career without winning anything. Some without winning anything without help...

There was a theory posed elsewhere that the respiratory infection messed with his inner ear, and therefor his balance. It's just a theory, but...

Nice ... nice! Actually, he f@rted so hard due to beet juice and effort, that when combined with his low weight, it through him off balance.

Or, his brain weighs too much now that he has lost weight, which has altered his centre of gravity.

Nice one heckles!

Mods, is it within the rules to keep such a high degree of acrimony, provoke lots of people and not to be sanctioned?

I've noticed the trolls have a very high post count history. I guess sanctioning them would be an admission of institutional failure.

The huge ego makes him top heavy.

I wonder if Wiggins was really that sick or just unmotivated since he couldn't likely win and decided to move on. A top 10 finish would have still been a good goal and honor.

I think it would be a tragedy for froome and team sky for him to ride the tour. If so they will have 2 protected riders and the wrong ones because the better choice for the second on this course would be porte. Wiggins has no chance to win the tour. He simply can't climb unless it is exactly on his terms.

Team sky is going to fall apart after this season. Too many chiefs, not enough indians.

Looking at this seasons stage race results, I think Sky only needs to get rid of Wiggins. So far Sky has achieved 1st or 2nd in every stage race that Wiggins has not been in. It's hard to imagine that looking at his 2012 season, but this season Wiggins has been the weak link in the team.

Where in the world is telling the plain truth considered as trolling.

Regarding Wiggins, it will be intresting to see what his next race will be.

Suisse? or Dauphine (Where Sky can have a rehearsal of how they may Co-exist in the Tour)

As I wrote hé is a somewhat below average descender when its dry and not super tecnical, but when you add rain hé becomes super terrible due to being afraid (same as Schleck)
