The Hitch said:This +100000. Even last year when it was Wiggins turn to let froome have his shot at the tour after froome slaved for him in 2012, he tried to backdoor froome through the media and position himself as the leader. Froome never did that to Wiggins in 2012.
Catwhoorg said:He is clearly trying to force DB into publicly saying he is still in the picture.
One thing is clear to me. He is gone from SKY by the end of the year.
This sort of thing will not sit well with the powers that be.
He needs to be thankful that DB isn't in charge of the Olympic selection anymore.
Then he could be putting his Rio selection in jeopardy.

richo36 said:its a very important stage tho. why not have them both?
the last time the cobbles were used the front group(6 riders) came in 53 seconds ahead of the second group (6 riders). and 1min 46 seconds ahead of the third group (8 riders).
so if contador finishes 53seconds ahead of froome all he will have to do for the rest of the tour is follow his wheel.
so ill repeat this could be the most important stage of the tour. why not have both?
Pack Fodder said:Funny, yes. But would that be worst move ever for 2015? for both parties?
Contador would love a machine like Wiggins to bring him half way up the climbs. In return Wiggins gets Roubaix, choice of Giro or Vuelta (Nicolas Roche get's the other) and time off toward the end for a run at the 2016 Games.
And would Wiggins enjoy the freedom to explicitly try to hurt Froome and Sky in 2015?
elfed68 said:I bet Contador would love Wiggins and Rogers in front up the mountains!
I bet he's hot property on the transfer market now come August.
webbie146 said:So because Froome is a little whiny ***** a in-form Wiggo can't ride the tdf. WTH
Wiggo is clearly on form and could have been a great asset in there tdf squad. Sky are letting personal issue's affect there judgment. For a team claiming they are all about being professionals and scientific and blabla this is pretty embarrassing haha![]()
These. Can't stand the little **** but if Sky really wanted to field the best team Wiggins would be on it. I can only imagine the tempo he would have tapped out for Froome in the mountains. Man, how I hope Froome gets beat! (I would love a puncture at the wrong time on the cobbled stage and a loss of minutes)rainman said:Chris Froome has dropped in my reckoning after this, and Brailsford for giving way.
Even if BW had gone rogue The Dawg could have seen him off in the mountains and proven himself a worthy champion by not losing too much in the ITT. But making sure he was DNS was sneaky and cowardly. Hope Alberto is in blistering form next month.
Yes.spalco said:If Contador said he doesn't want Kreuziger on his Tour squad, other than maybe a bad strategic choice, would there be any controversy?
Probably won't happen but that would be awesomeJones123 said:Is there a chance Sky may get booed at the team presentation? Probably not but that would be hilarious!![]()
Nah, seems to me like plenty of people here are not Wiggins fans but still feel the decision was bad.wirral said:I know this is the Wiggins discussion thread but it has been totally taken over by infatuated Wiggins' fans.
Though I do agree with this a bit.wirral said:Wiggins with his regular childish tantrums interspersed with offish, snide comments and uncooperative behaviour every time he has ridden with Froome has made it plain that the only team he (Wiggins) can ride on is one where everybody else bends to his will and what he wants. He is a typical only child.
Yes, but it still makes Froome look petty and weak and Brailsford looks like his b***h.The Hitch said:Reap what you sow. Maybe Wiggins can learn from this and treat people with more respect in the future. A man learns best when he gets burnt.
The Hitch said:It's not revenge. He doesn't trust Wiggins. Has good reason to not trust Wiggins. So he keeps him off the team when he's trying to win a tour De france.
William H said:Why is Wiggins not allowed to want to defend his title?
jaylew said:Yet he was ok with Froome riding the Tour with him in 2012 after his leadership being usurped in the 2011 Vuelta.
The Hitch said:What?
Froome was as loyal in 2011 Vuelta as anyone could possibly be.
The Hitch said:What?
Are you serious?
froome was doing domestique duties for Wiggins even when he was in the red jersey.
Only when Wiggins was pushed out of gc contention on Angliru with 1 gc stage left, did the managment, with Wiggins consent, since he couldn't win the race anymore, allow Froome to go up the road.
Froome was as loyal in 2011 Vuelta as anyone could possibly be.
arvc40 said:One things for sure Team Sky and Froome do not need Wiggins to win the Tour. Instead of ****ing around the last 2 years he should have integrated himself into the group that is going to the Tour. Froome said he has not seen him since January. He talks of taking different path's, well he should have considered the path where he works alongside Froome
As described in the BBC interview.
Brought it on himself TBH.
Miburo said:Froome is a coward. Contador handled LA in his team while everyone was against AC.
Just shows the difference in class.
I feel sorry for Wiggins, he doesn't really deserve this. He honestly didn't do anything wrong 2 years ago. If someone is to blaim it's Brailsford or Froome.
movingtarget said:If I was providing the financial backing to team Sky and was told that the Tour winner from two years ago could not make their best team of nine riders I would want answers pretty quickly. Looks like a lack of trust in Wiggins and more about personalities. He has shown pretty good form this year. Porte will be given another chance at the Giro so Wiggins is on the outer. Looks like he will be moving on after all.
I also think Wiggins would have made Porte's job easier at the Tour. Wiggins would have friends at Sky as well so I wonder if this decision instead of solidifying the team could cause some issues for other riders as well. I'm sure Froome is not universally liked. But Sutton and Yates are not around to stick up for Wiggins anymore.
